Lab Support Technician I

As our business looks to deliver its ambitious strategy of growth, we are looking for a Lab support Technician to join our Research and Development Team.
You will be responsible for executing the procedures and techniques associated with rotary evaporation of research products and supporting R&D product manufacturing by removing bulk solvent under direct supervision.
What You’ll Be Doing:

- Perform rotary evaporation of R&D products and fully document work.
- Maintain ADEM compliance and report all associated data
- Report and address any problems in daily manufacturing
- Provide support for Chromatography, natural extractions and large-scale synthesis as needed.
- Cleans and maintains glassware and equipment used in the laboratory.
- Empty trash in production areas and production support areas
- Maintain cleanliness of immediate work area
- Clean rotary evaporator glassware and other necessary components
- Install and replace compressed gas cylinders
- Perform label printing and verification
- Perform upkeep of employee training records
- Transfer hazardous or non-hazardous waste materials to collection areas for disposal or recycling
- Prepare and align individual performance goals with department goals
- Complete company-required training programs
- Adhere to all applicable regulations, policies, and procedures for health, safety, and environmental compliance as outlined in the company's Standard Operating Procedures, Chemical Hygiene Plan, Emergency Contingency Plan, training memoranda, policy memoranda, Safety Data Sheets, Specification Records, etc.
- Complete respirator fitting and training
- Complete drum movement training, and perform physical labor associated with movement

- High school diploma or equivalent required or equivalent unless previous employment experience indicates aptitude. Associate degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, biology or related field preferred.
- Strong attention to detail
- High level of integrity and reliability
- Intermediate math skills required
- Intermediate mechanical skills required for manipulation of rotary evaporation equipment, such as glassware, rotary evaporators, balances, gas cylinders, ovens and vacuum systems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Self-motivated.
- Good understanding of cross-functional collaboration.
- Effectively communicate with cross-functional teams including QC, GMP, QA and Management
- Ability to work both in a team environment and work independently
- Ability to align personnel/department schedule with production schedule

Additional Information
This is an on-site position based at our Alabaster, AL site.
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, give oral instructions, listen and hear instructions, customer and/or employee responses, etc. The position is active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling and stooping all day. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move items up to 50 pounds.
Work Environment: Requires the ability to gown and wear safety attire as well as any required protective equipment including safety glasses. Employees must meet hygiene and health requirements to allow them to work in a cGMP environment. The job function routinely works with chemicals, organic solvents and biological samples, and may on occasion require work with caustic chemicals.
