Position Summary:

The Houseman is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, appearance, functionality, and overall condition of the clubhouse and surrounding facilities. This position combines banquet and event support with preventative maintenance, basic repairs, and facility upkeep to ensure members and guests enjoy a safe, clean, and first-class environment. The ideal candidate is dependable, mechanically inclined, and committed to providing exceptional service in a private club setting.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Set up and break down banquet rooms, meeting spaces, and outdoor event areas according to event diagrams.
  • Arrange and move tables, chairs, linens, and audiovisual equipment.
  • Reset dining rooms and event spaces between functions.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of public areas, banquet rooms, patios, locker rooms, hallways, and entrances.
  • Remove trash and recycling from clubhouse and event areas.
  • Assist with seasonal decorating and special club events.

Maintenance & Facilities:

  • Perform routine preventative maintenance throughout the clubhouse and grounds.
  • Complete minor repairs including carpentry, painting, drywall repair, plumbing fixtures, door hardware, and basic electrical work such as replacing light fixtures, switches, and bulbs.
  • Conduct daily inspections of the clubhouse to identify maintenance and safety concerns.
  • Maintain outdoor furniture, patios, walkways, and common areas.
  • Assist with pressure washing, and seasonal property maintenance.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests from departments throughout the club.
  • Maintain maintenance logs, work orders, and inventory of tools and supplies.
  • Ensure equipment and storage areas remain clean, organized, and secure.

Safety & Member Service

  • Follow OSHA safety standards and proper use of tools, equipment, and chemicals.
  • Report safety hazards
  • Provide courteous, professional service to members, guests, and fellow employees.
  • Maintain professionalism while working throughout member areas.
  • Support other departments as operational needs require.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Minimum 1–3 years of experience in facilities maintenance, building maintenance, hospitality, or country club operations preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and general building maintenance.
  • Experience with banquet or event setup is preferred.
  • Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, ladders, and maintenance equipment.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks.

Physical Requirements

  • Frequently lift, carry, push, and pull up to 75 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb ladders, and work overhead for extended periods.
  • Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to safely move banquet furniture and maintenance equipment.

Work Schedule

  • Full-time position with a flexible schedule.
  • Must be available to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events as required.
