Crittenton Services of Greater Washington (Crittenton) seeks energetic, experienced, and highly-skilled youth development program specialists to deliver positive youth development programs at middle and high schools in Montgomery County, Maryland. The full-time positions require:

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Program Delivery

  • Deliver program curricula with fidelity to six groups of 15-18 students once a week during the school day from September to June
  • Work closely with a designated school contact to recruit, retain, and serve program participants
  • Maintain regular communication with program participants to meet participants’ needs and ensure program engagement, attendance, completion, and retention
  • Work with school staff and Crittenton’s Resource Coordinator to refer participants to mental health services, medical care, benefits/social services, and academic support or tutoring, among other services
  • Coordinate out-of-school enrichment activities for program participants to build group cohesion and expose participants to colleges, careers, and other experiential events

Relationships with parents, schools, and the community

  • Maintain regular communication with parents to ensure required levels of attendance and satisfaction with a series of parent workshops
  • Represent Crittenton within assigned schools and maintain working relationships with school administrators, nurses, counselors, teachers, and support staff to keep the school informed on program activities and build support for the program within the school
  • Represent Crittenton at meetings with providers working in the assigned schools and with community groups to build relationships that will support the program and program participants

Program Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting

  • Maintain all program-related records, including group registration, parental permission, group rosters, and session attendance
  • Submit weekly attendance and implementation reports
  • Submit monthly program forecasts
  • Collect participants’ report cards and school discipline data each quarter of the school year
  • Compile other program data for reports and ongoing monitoring
  • Submit evaluation plans and administer all evaluation instruments

Other

  • Adhere to the assigned program budget
  • Submit expenditure reports and receipts, as required
  • Other duties, as assigned

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND CORE COMPETENCIES:

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, youth development, counseling, public health, education, or other relevant fields
  • Demonstrated ability to recruit participants and deliver programs for middle & high school girls in group settings
  • Minimum three years of direct service experience with youth
  • Demonstrated mastery and use of the core competencies (skills, abilities, and knowledge) essential for youth development work
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver content on reproductive health, healthy relationships, and social and emotional skills
  • Demonstrated ability to speak and write cogently

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Master’s degree in social work, counseling, public health, education, or other relevant fields
  • Experience delivering positive youth development programs in the Greater Washington area
  • Experience delivering programs to teen girls on healthy relationships, reproductive and sexual health, and contraception
  • Experience in crisis intervention and conflict resolution

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Access to reliable personal transportation required
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office software
  • Weekend/evening hours for occasional Crittenton events, community outreach, and field trips
  • Commitment to Crittenton’s organizational values related to racial equity, cultural competence, and responsiveness in program delivery, community relations, and staff development
