Critical Systems is a growing mechanical engineering and HVAC solutions firm supporting complex commercial and mission-critical facilities. As we continue to scale, we are seeking an experienced Controller to lead our accounting function and partner closely with leadership, operations, and sales.

What You’ll Do
- Oversee all accounting operations in compliance with U.S. GAAP
- Manage general ledger, AP, AR, payroll, revenue recognition, and commissions
- Lead the monthly close process, including reconciliations, cost allocations, and financial statement preparation
- Review customer and vendor contracts and ensure proper revenue recognition
- Implement and maintain strong internal controls and accounting policies
- Lead annual audits and manage tax filings and external partners (banking, insurance, auditors)
- Prepare monthly financial reporting packages for leadership and banking partners
- Support annual budgeting, forecasting, and planning
- Build, mentor, and develop a high-performing accounting team
- Partner cross-functionally with engineering, sales, HR, and operations on financial initiatives
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field (Master’s preferred)
- CPA preferred
- 6 years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership roles
- Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and technical accounting
- Experience in project-based, engineering, construction, or professional services environments a plus
- ERP system experience and a track record of improving accounting processes and controls
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to operate independently
- Strong communicator and collaborative business partner
- Salary range: $110,000 – $135,000
