Role Description

• The Construction Health and Safety Technician is a full-time, on-site role based in South Bend, IN.
• This role is responsible for monitoring construction activities to identify hazards, support safe work practices, and assist in enforcing site-specific safety policies and procedures.
• Daily tasks include conducting safety inspections and audits, documenting findings, and helping implement corrective actions to ensure compliance with OSHA and other regulatory requirements.
• The technician will support Environment Health and Safety (EHS) programs, participate in job safety analyses, and assist with incident reporting and root cause reviews.
• The role also involves communicating safety expectations to site personnel, supporting safety trainings and toolbox talks, maintaining accurate safety documentation, and collaborating with project teams to promote a consistent culture of health and safety on the jobsite.
  

Qualifications

• Candidates should possess strong Health & Safety and Occupational Health skills, including familiarity with construction safety standards, OSHA regulations, and hazard identification.
• Candidates should possess clear and effective Communication skills, including the ability to convey safety requirements, collaborate with site teams, and document observations accurately.
• Candidates should possess Environment Health and Safety (EHS) knowledge, including experience supporting EHS programs, inspections, and compliance initiatives in construction or industrial settings.
• Candidates should possess solid Analytical Skills, including the ability to interpret safety data, perform basic root cause analysis, and recommend practical corrective measures.
• Additional beneficial qualifications include prior field experience in construction or industrial environments, relevant safety certifications (e.g., OSHA 30, CHST or equivalent), and working knowledge of risk assessment methods.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; an associate degree or higher in safety, environmental science, construction management, or a related field is preferred.
• Ability to work on active job sites, use basic safety inspection tools and software, and consistently promote a safety-first mindset among diverse teams.
