About the Role
Critical Infrastructure Group, LLC (CI Group) is seeking an experienced Lead UPS Technician to join our team at our facility in Sparks, NV. This hands-on role focuses on maintaining, diagnosing, repairing, and leading work on Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems. You'll work directly with a range of major UPS brands we stock, perform preventive and corrective maintenance, mentor junior technicians, and help ensure maximum reliability and uptime.
This is a stable, fully on-site position at our Sparks facility—no travel or multi-site fieldwork required. We require at least 5 years of relevant UPS/critical power experience. Candidates with strong technical expertise and leadership skills (even in the 5–15 year range) are strongly encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities
- Startup, maintain, diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair UPS systems and related components.
- Lead preventive maintenance, corrective repairs, and system testing within our facility.
- Provide expert hands-on support for critical power infrastructure to minimize downtime in high-availability environments.
- Mentor and develop junior technicians, emphasizing safety, best practices, and team efficiency.
- Perform diagnostics, and documentation of service records, test results, and inventory.
- Collaborate on equipment upgrades, commissioning, and reliability improvements for stocked UPS platforms.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience servicing and maintaining UPS systems in critical power environments (data centers, telecom, industrial, hospitals, or similar).
- Proven technical proficiency in UPS maintenance, diagnostics, troubleshooting, battery systems, firmware management, and startups.
- Demonstrated leadership—such as mentoring staff, leading projects, or improving team processes/safety.
- Comfort working safely in live/energized electrical environments with strict protocol adherence.
- Valid driver's license (no routine travel needed).
- Strong problem-solving, attention to detail, and ability to work independently or in a team.
Preferred (but not required)
- 8–15 years in critical power / UPS field service.
- Hands-on experience or manufacturer-specific training/certifications with any of the following brands we stock: Mitsubishi, Toshiba, Eaton, Vertiv / Liebert, Xtreme, APC / Schneider Electric.
- Familiarity working across multiple UPS vendors and topologies.
