Position Summary:

We are seeking an Installation Technician to support the deployment of physical infrastructure within active, mission-critical data center environments. This role involves hands-on assistance with the installation of equipment such as server cabinets, cable containment systems, cages, conveyance, structured cabling, and other essential infrastructure. Candidates must adhere to strict standards for cleanliness, security, and professionalism while working in live data halls. The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, and motivated to grow within the mission-critical field.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the installation and alignment of data center equipment, including server racks, cabinets, cages, and cable trays.
  • Support the deployment of structured cabling systems (fiber and copper) according to project standards and labeling requirements.
  • Install and secure containment systems, including overhead ladder racks, underfloor conveyance, and vertical cable management.
  • Maintain cleanliness and adhere to contamination control protocols within white space environments.
  • Follow detailed installation plans, drawings, and statements of work (SOWs) under the guidance of the Field Supervisors and Project Managers.
  • Conduct visual inspections of installed components to ensure quality, alignment, and compliance with site specifications.
  • Operate basic hand tools and power tools safely to assemble and secure hardware.
  • Coordinate with team members to stage, move, and unbox equipment for installation.
  • Identify and report installation issues, delays, or equipment damage to supervisory staff.
  • Comply with all data center site-specific security, safety, and access control protocols.
  • Participate in toolbox talks, safety meetings, PPE checks, and job briefings as required.
  • Follow dress code requirements and always maintain a professional appearance.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 0–2 years of experience in data center, telecom, low-voltage, or cabling roles preferred.
  • Familiarity or willingness to learn data center infrastructure components (cabinets, cabling, power whips, containment).
  • Experience using hand and power tools (drills, saws, torque wrenches, cable crimpers, fish tape, etc.).
  • Ability to work in clean, quiet, temperature-controlled data center environments.
  • Comfortable with physical tasks: lifting up to 50 lbs., standing, kneeling, climbing ladders.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow precise instructions.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time, work off-hours, weekends, or night shifts as needed.
  • Must pass background checks, drug screening, and site-specific security clearance.

Compensation & Benefits:

Hourly Pay Range: $20.00 – $30.00 per hour (based on experience, certifications, and location).

Overtime Pay: Paid at 1.5x the standard hourly rate for all hours over 40 per week (per Minnesota state law).

Per Diem & Travel (when required):

  • $45–$60 daily per diem for overnight travel.
  • Lodging, car rental, and flights provided by employer if required.
  • Mileage reimbursement for use of personal vehicle (IRS standard rate).

About Our Work Environment: This position is mostly based on live data center environments—clean, climate-controlled areas where critical IT infrastructure is installed and maintained. Technicians must maintain strict adherence to cleanliness, safety, and access protocols at all times.
