Cristo Rey Orlando High School is located in Orlando, FL, and is part of the national Cristo Rey Network. The school opened its doors to its inaugural freshmen class in the fall of 2025. Like all Cristo Rey schools, it is a Catholic, college preparatory high school for students of all faiths from families of limited financial means. Who You Are
You are a dedicated Campus Minister and Theology Teacher who is passionate about nurturing the spiritual and moral development of students. At Cristo Rey Orlando High School, you will plan and implement a comprehensive faith formation and instructional program that inspires students to grow in their faith and apply it to their everyday lives. As Campus Minister, you will serve the Cristo Rey Orlando community by preaching the Gospel of Christ and forming disciples rooted in the love of the hearts of Jesus and Mary.
In your role as a Theology Teacher, you will guide students through courses that cover scripture, doctrine, ethics, and the teachings of the Church. You will help them understand how these principles relate to their personal lives and the world around them, fostering a deep connection to the Catholic faith. Your goal is to encourage personal growth and guide students to live out their faith in real-life situations. Additionally, you will support Cristo Rey High School's mission by helping students integrate their faith into both their academic pursuits and work-study experiences, ensuring that their spiritual development complements their educational journey.
This Role
Cristo Rey Orlando High School is seeking a dedicated Theology Teacher to join an innovative, dynamic, and mission-driven school that values both its faculty and students. In this role, you will be responsible for delivering a comprehensive theology curriculum that fosters students' spiritual and moral development, covering areas such as scripture, doctrine, ethics, and the teachings of the Church. As a member of the Cristo Rey Orlando faculty, you will play a key role in facilitating student learning, continuously assessing progress, and contributing to the ongoing development of the school’s curriculum.
You will also supervise students, ensuring their safety and adherence to school policies, while actively participating in the holistic development of the school’s program of studies. In this role, you will strive to teach and model being men and women for others, offering academic and personal guidance, and helping students integrate their faith into their daily lives. You will take an active role in celebrating and upholding the faith-based identity of the school, encouraging students to live out their Catholic values.
Preference is given to candidates who are eager to engage in the school community by moderating clubs, coaching athletic teams, and serving as adult leaders on retreats, fostering a strong sense of community and faith at Cristo Rey Orlando. Responsibilities include:
- Develop Theology Lessons: Create and deliver culturally relevant, engaging lessons that cover scripture, Church teachings, ethics, and the application of these principles to students' lives.
- Curriculum Writing and Analysis: Regularly develop and update course materials, incorporating Church doctrine and current issues, to help students deepen their understanding of the faith and its role in their lives.
- Spiritual Formation: Guide students in their spiritual development, encouraging them to reflect on their faith and apply it to their personal and academic experiences, including the Cristo Rey Work Study program.
- Engaging Classroom Environment: Foster a dynamic and inclusive classroom atmosphere that encourages active participation, critical thinking, and personal growth in faith.
- High Academic and Spiritual Expectations: Maintain high standards for all students, providing the support and challenges necessary for them to excel in both their academic and spiritual development.
- Family Engagement: Build strong partnerships with families to support student success through regular communication and collaboration.
- Student Support: Offer regular office hours and be available for additional instruction and personalized support to help students overcome challenges in understanding and living out their faith.
- Behavior Management: Establish trust and rapport with students, effectively managing classroom behavior to maintain a respectful and productive learning environment.
- Professional Development: Commit to continuous growth as an educator by collaborating with colleagues, participating in professional development opportunities, and actively seeking and providing feedback.
- Mission Commitment: Embrace and promote the school's mission to inspire and prepare students from underserved backgrounds to succeed in college and lead their communities as compassionate, committed, and competent individuals for the greater glory of God.

- School Community Participation: Engage fully in the school community by taking on supervision duties, participating in retreats and special events, and contributing to the July summer student program.
- Other Responsibilities: Performs other duties and special projects as assigned by the Principal and Assistant Principal.
The theology teacher reports to and will work directly with the founding Principal and Founding Assistant Principal and Collaborate with the Coordinator of Academic Support and Learning. They will have an immediate impact and will manage new projects and initiatives, as well as maintain existing ones. This summary does not describe all job duties.
Required Qualifications
- You hold a Bachelor's Degree in Theology, Religious Studies, or a related field, with a minimum of 12 credit hours in education preferred. A Master’s Degree in Theology or Religious Education is a plus.
- You have a Permanent Teacher Certification in Theology or a related subject area.
- You bring 3-5 years of teaching experience, with experience in teaching theology or religious studies being a strong advantage.
- You have training in theology, catechesis, or working with students in a religious context—this is preferred but not required.
- Proficiency in Spanish is preferred but not mandatory.
- You are able to pass a background screening.
- You’re proficient in using technology in the classroom to enhance student learning.
- You’re committed to consistent, on-time attendance for supervising and instructing students.
- You appreciate and support the school’s unique mission and are committed to the values of faith-based education.
- You are dedicated to upholding the mission of the school as defined by the Cristo Rey Network Mission Effectiveness Standards.
- You maintain professional attire daily, contributing to a respectful and serious learning environment.
- You’re regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, and climb stairs. You can operate a computer, hand-held learning devices, and other office equipment. Occasionally, you may need to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
Preferred Experience and Skills
- Strong knowledge and experience in teaching Theology, with a solid understanding of Catholic doctrine, scripture, ethics, and the teachings of the Church.
- Ability to develop and implement a Theology curriculum that aligns with Catholic educational standards while incorporating real-life applications and fostering students' spiritual and moral growth.
- Experience in utilizing formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress, adjusting instruction to meet diverse learning needs and support faith formation.
- Ability to support at-risk students by developing individualized academic and spiritual growth plans, working collaboratively with peers, parents, and the leadership team to ensure student success.
- Proficient in educational technology and student performance tracking to enhance curriculum effectiveness and improve student outcomes in Theology courses.
- Experience leading faith-based activities, such as retreats, service projects, and prayer services, to support the spiritual development of the school community.
- Proficiency in Spanish is preferred to better engage with a diverse school community and provide pastoral care to all students.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and other relevant technology platforms for curriculum planning, communication, and student data management.
