Duties
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments and ensuring all necessary supplies are ready for procedures
- Assist dentists chairside during various treatments, including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry
- Take and develop dental X-rays using digital imaging systems such as X-ray machines and 3D scanners while maintaining strict infection control protocols
- Manage patient records accurately using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Eaglesoft, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Provide patient education on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care to promote long-term dental health
- Monitor vital signs and assess patient comfort throughout procedures to ensure safety and reduce anxiety
Skills
- Proficiency with dental software including Eaglesoft for managing medical documentation and records
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques
- Experience with chairside assisting in general dentistry and specialized fields like prosthodontics or endodontics
- Ability to operate dental imaging equipment including X-ray machines and 3D scanners with precision
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality at all times
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients of all ages, especially pediatrics
- Knowledge of medical coding related to dental procedures and documentation standards
