What are the responsibilities and job description for the Legal Accounting Specialist position at Crisp?
One of our clients is seeking a detail-obsessed Legal Accounting Specialist ready to take full ownership of their financial systems. If you're the type who gets energized by cleaning up processes, integrating smarter systems, and creating order out of chaos — this is your next move.
This role is your chance to leave your mark at a highly respected and growing Florida law firm that has won major appellate victories, transformed client communication with tech-forward tools, and built a reputation for principled, compassionate legal advocacy.
You won’t just “keep the books.” You’ll help build the financial backbone of a modern law firm.
What You'll Do:
- Take charge of billing operations: From invoicing to month-end close, you’ll ensure every dollar is accounted for and every process runs like clockwork.
- Align finance with case progress: You'll connect retainers, interim statements, and final accounting to each client’s legal journey.
- Lead systems migration: Oversee the transition from PCLaw to Clio Accounting, integrating with QuickBooks and ensuring zero disruption.
- Design efficient workflows: Create SOPs, dashboards, and reporting tools that deliver clear insights and scalable processes.
- Optimize trust accounting: Configure Clio to ensure transparency, compliance, and an improved client billing experience.
- Support compliance: Manage reconciliations, audits, and reports to uphold Florida Bar trust account requirements.
- Drive collaboration: Work closely with leadership, vendors, and team members to implement best practices and train others.
What We’re Looking For:
- Legal accounting experience: 2 years of hands-on experience in a law firm setting — especially with billing, trust accounting, and month-end financials.
- Clio Pro: You know Clio Accounting or Clio Billing inside and out. Experience with PCLaw is a plus.
- QuickBooks savvy: Confident navigating integrations, reports, and workflows that support a multi-office legal practice.
- Tech-forward mindset: You love optimizing systems and automating wherever possible.
- Detail-driven: Meticulous, consistent, and accountable when managing sensitive financial data.
- Strong communicator: You can explain accounting to non-accountants without missing a beat.
Why You’ll Love This Role:
- Shape the future: Build a smarter, stronger financial system for a practice that’s growing and modernizing rapidly.
- Work with leaders: Collaborate directly with the Managing Attorney and Director of Legal Operations.
- Meaningful mission: Support a firm dedicated to justice, education, and empowering clients during their most pivotal life moments.
- Historic office, modern vibe: Based at Mann Manor in Bartow — a beautiful, restored historic landmark — with a regional presence in Lakeland and St. Petersburg.
- Real balance: Enjoy a generous PTO program designed to give you space to rest, recharge, and celebrate life.
