General Description
Under general supervision is responsible for performing a variety of calculating, posting, and verifying duties to obtain accurate financial data for use in maintaining accounting records.
Summary of Essential Job Functions:
· Verifies and processes payroll for all employees.
· Verifies and processes invoices and checks for timely payment of Power Commission bills.
· Prepares and makes journal entries and ensure they are properly entered into the financial software
· Reconciles/balances assigned GL account balances including but not limited to accounts payable, accounts receivable, customer deposits, and other accounts receivable.
· Makes bank deposits
· Processes month-end procedures
· Processes miscellaneous invoices
· Designs and produces special reports upon request
· Responds to and works with external auditors during the fiscal year-end audit
· Files documents
· Attends training sessions
· Coordinates with other departments to ensure efficient operation of the Commission’s functions.
· As a public employee is responsible for maintaining good relations with the public served.
· Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Job Requirements:
· Use eyes, hands, and fingers accurately and at the same time to enter data in books and forms or to operate a computer keyboard, typewriter, calculator, or other office machines.
· Compute and record numbers correctly.
· Analyze reports and data.
· Follow procedures for keeping records.
· Read and copy large quantities of numbers without error.
· Perform work that is routine and detailed
Physical Demands:
Lifting 25 lbs. maximum and occasionally lifting and/or carrying such articles as computer printouts, notebooks, ledgers, small tools etc. Walking and standing are required only occasionally. Reaching, handling, fingering, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing.
Environmental Conditions:
Inside: Protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. A job is considered ‘inside” if the worker spends approximately 75 percent or more of the time inside.
Math Skills:
Requires mathematical development sufficient to be able to: compute discount interest, profit and loss; commission, markups and selling price; ratio and proportion, and percentages. Calculate surface, volumes, weights and measures.
Language Skills:
Must have developed language skills to the point to be able to: Read and understand instructions, safety rules etc., look up unfamiliar words in dictionary for meaning, spelling, and pronunciation. Write reports with proper format, punctuation, spelling and grammar, using all parts of speech. Speak clearly and distinctly with appropriate pauses, emphasis, and correct pronunciation.

· Data: Computing: Determining time, place, and sequence of operations or action to be taken on the basis of analysis of data; executing determination of and/or reporting on events. Performing arithmetic operations and reporting on and/or carrying out a prescribed action in relation to them. Includes counting various monetary denominations.

o Speaking-Signaling: talking with and/or signaling people to convey or exchange information. Includes giving assignments and or directions to helpers or assistants.
o Taking instructions-Helping: Helping applies to “non-learning” helpers. Training in all phases of computer and cross training.
o Negotiating: Exchanging ideas, information, and opinions with others to formulate policies and programs and/or arrive jointly at decisions, conclusions, or solutions.
· Things: Operating-Controlling: starting, stopping, controlling and adjusting the progress of machines or equipment. Operating machines involves setting up and adjusting the machine or materials as the work progresses. Controlling involves observing progress of operations and turning devices to regulate reactions of materials.
Specific Vocational Preparation:
Specific Vocational Preparation includes an occupationally significant combination of: vocational education, apprentice training, in-plant training, on the job training, or essential experience in less responsible jobs which lead to the higher job or serving in other jobs. Over 4 years up to and including 10 years.
Education Requirements:
High school diploma from an accredited school or GED. Courses in accounting from an accredited vocational/technical school required.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $29.77 - $43.75 per hour
