What are the responsibilities and job description for the Case Advocate/ Riley #2 position at Crisis Center, Inc.?
Primary Responsibilities: This position is responsible for providing advocacy services to victims and survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault in Riley County.
Specific Duties:
· Provide advocacy services, including but not limited to: crisis intervention, personal advocacy, medical advocacy, court advocacy, safe shelter, law enforcement advocacy, supportive counseling, support groups, information and referrals, and transportation.
· Participate in an on-call rotation with other advocates after business hours.
· Develop and maintain relationships and points of contact with community partners.
- Work with other systems to increase survivor safety and access to resources, including but not limited to: the courts, law enforcement, and other social service providers.
- Effectively communicate, coordinate, and collaborate in a timely manner with other advocates to ensure survivors are best served.
- Facilitate support groups.
- Create a culture of empowerment and trauma-informed service delivery.
- Participate in organizational meetings and other functions, as needed.
- Assist with efforts to ensure information is readily available and accessible to victims and survivors.
- Participate in professional development opportunities pertinent to the position.
- Assist with other duties as assigned.
Requirements: Baccalaureate degree in related field or equivalent; experience working with victims and/or in social services; ability to work directly counties served, including any travel to and from as needed; ability to relate to diverse individuals and groups in a non-judgmental manner; ability to work with people from underserved or traditionally underserved communities; ability to handle and manage stress; ability to handle emergency or crisis situations; ability to maintain strict confidentiality; ability to identify and respond to the needs and concerns of victims of domestic violence and sexual assault; ability to be flexible; ability to work independently and as a team; ability to work effectively in fast-paced environments; bilingual in English/Spanish preferred. Each staff member of The Crisis Center, Inc. must have reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license and insurance at all times, and be capable of lifting and carrying 20 - 30 pounds. Must be able to pass criminal and child abuse background check.
