Position Summary
We are seeking a motivated and mechanically inclined HP Digital Industrial Printing Pressman Apprentice to join our high-volume packaging production team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a long-term career in the printing and packaging industry while training alongside experienced press operators on state-of-the-art HP digital industrial printing equipment.
The apprentice will learn all aspects of digital press operation, setup, maintenance, quality control, workflow management, and production efficiency in a fast-paced manufacturing environment producing flexible packaging, folding cartons, and pouches for a wide range of consumer products.
This role offers strong potential for advancement into Lead Press Operator, Production Supervisor, Color Specialist, or other manufacturing leadership positions.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior press operators with setup, operation, and shutdown of HP digital industrial printing presses
- Learn press calibration, color management, registration, and print quality standards
- Prepare substrates, inks, coatings, and production materials for scheduled jobs
- Monitor print runs to ensure quality, consistency, and production efficiency
- Inspect finished materials for color accuracy, defects, and customer specifications
- Perform routine cleaning, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting of press equipment
- Maintain accurate production records and job documentation
- Follow all company safety procedures, GMP standards, and housekeeping requirements
- Collaborate with prepress, finishing, pouching, laminating, and quality teams to ensure on-time production
- Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on waste reduction and productivity
Qualifications
Preferred Skills & Experience
- High school diploma or GED required
- Technical school, vocational training, or printing/manufacturing experience preferred
- Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn industrial equipment
- Strong attention to detail and color consistency
- Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Basic computer skills and comfort working with digital production systems
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to lift materials and stand for extended periods
