What are the responsibilities and job description for the General Manager position at Crimson Lane Vineyards?
Crimson Lane is a new winery in the mountains of Virginia. They are in search of a GM to oversee the operations of the upscale, reservation only property. This is an estate-grown vineyard with an ideal property to grow the best Virginia wine.
Responsibilities
- Hire/Develop/Lead Tasting Room team to provide the best possible experience to all guests of the Winery; creating an on-going positive work environment; maintaining a productive and professional workforce.
- Create and execute sales and marketing strategies that will increase sales and profitability.
- Oversight of financial planning including operating budget, P&L, and cash flow.
- Help to create and update SOPs when necessary.
- Serve as liaison between Wine Maker, Owners, and Employees.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations (Virginia ABC, Virginia Department of Health, etc.).
- Stay on top of industry trends that relate to the business and use that information to develop team and push the property forward.
- Ensure the organization’s vision and values are met on a consistent basis.
- Represent the winery at community and industry events.
Requirements
- 3 years in a GM role in a winery or fine dining restaurant setting.
- Operational experience with budgets of $5M while overseeing multiple areas within an operation: marketing, sales, finance, human resources, direct to consumer wine sales (tasting room, wine club), wholesale, and events.
- Detail-oriented with exceptional communication and leadership skills and ability to work strategically and collaboratively across departments. Must be able to work weekends.
- Exceptional project management skills with attention to detail; specifically around new operations.
- Entrepreneurial and comfortable operating independently; highly analytical, resilient, and a problem solver.
