Work Schedule: Monday through Friday (including some evenings). Minimum of 4 days per week in-person. In-person time will include frequent and regular travel to CVTC’s partner hospital emergency departments (currently 6 hospitals across Manhattan, Brooklyn and Queens).


Salary Range: $68,000 - $73,000


Job Description:

The Hospital Partnership Liaison & Educator will provide administrative and programmatic support to the Volunteer Advocate and Sexual Assault Forensic Examiner (SAFE) components of CVTC, including supporting the recruitment, selection, training and supervision of volunteer rape crisis and domestic violence advocates and SAFEs. This position will also support CVTC’s broader partnerships with hospital emergency departments (EDs) across NYC, including coordinating with hospital ED staff; providing (with other CVTC staff) relevant training and education to hospital administrative, medical, social work and other staff regarding support for survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence; and ensuring that CVTC has a regular physical presence in each partner hospital ED.


Job Specific Duties and Responsibilities

  • In partnership with CVTC’s Community Programs Manager, provide overall administrative and programmatic support to CVTC’s Volunteer Advocate Program, including: annual 40-hour Volunteer Advocate Training; monthly Volunteer Advocate supervision/continuing education sessions; annual Volunteer Advocate Certification ceremony; and regular debrief calls with current Volunteer Advocates.
  • In partnership with other members of CVTC, assist in coordinating and delivering regular in-service training and technical assistance to professionals at CVTC’s partner hospital emergency departments (EDs) on topics including Trauma 101/Trauma-Informed Care; Sexual Assault (SA) and Domestic/Intimate Partner Violence (DV/IPV) 101; Hospital ED Protocols for SA & DV/IPV Survivors; CVTC ED Paperwork & Referral Processes; Working with Volunteer Advocates; etc.
  • Serve as a regular onsite presence at CVTC’s partner hospital EDs: participate in relevant meetings to support successful partnerships; assist with restocking of CVTC forms, emergency clothing, etc.
  • Assist with reimbursements to CVTC’s Volunteer Advocates and Sexual Assault Forensic Examiners (SAFEs); monitor reimbursements to partner hospitals for Forensic Rape Exams (FREs); troubleshoot and act as liaison between CVTC and Accounts Receivable/Billing at partner hospitals.
  • In partnership with other members of CVTC’s Administrative team, assist survivors of crime seen in CVTC’s partner hospital EDs submit applications for victim compensation through the NYS Office of Victim Services (OVS).
  • Collaborate with other CVTC staff to organize events, manage communications, and conduct relevant trainings, education sessions and community outreach events in order to increase the visibility and strengthen the reputation of CVTC among advocates, professional partners, and potential clients.


General Organizational & Administrative Duties

  • Maintain client/Advocate/SAFE confidentiality in the management of information.
  • Demonstrate effective time management and set appropriate priorities, balancing programmatic and administrative tasks.
  • Respond to situations, inquiries and correspondence in a timely manner.
  • Maintain monthly and quarterly statistics, as needed.
  • Adhere to attendance requirements and all CVTC policies.


Educational/Professional Development Duties & Responsibilities

  • Identify learning strengths and needs and assume responsibility for own professional growth by identifying and communicating problems and learning needs to supervisor.
  • Participate and assist in facilitation and teaching in annual and other regular training courses as appropriate and needed (e.g., volunteer advocate training, SAFE training courses, student intern seminars, etc.). D. Communication/Relationships
  • Demonstrate a professional, courteous, and respectful comportment in interactions with clients, colleagues, volunteers and external partners.
  • Observe principles of self-determination, confidentiality, and absence of prejudicial actions in interactions with program clients, colleagues, volunteers and external partners.
  • Anticipate, identify and alert supervisor of developing problems concerning cases and both internal and external systems.
  • Integrate and utilize supervisory feedback in an objective and positive manner.
  • Function in a consultative and educative capacity with all pertinent individuals or agencies who/which might impact on clients and co-survivors. May be required to perform other duties as assigned or when necessary.


Qualifications and Education Requirement:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent preferred.
  • Completion of CVTC’s 40-hour New York State Department of Health (NYS DOH)–approved Rape Crisis and Domestic Violence Volunteer Advocate Training within the first year of employment, leading to NYS DOH certification as a Rape Crisis Counselor.


Skills Requirement:

  • Demonstrate sound judgment in independent decision-making.
  • Strong English reading, writing, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to follow verbal and written instructions accurately.
  • Experience with facilitating meetings and trainings; community organizing; public speaking.
  • Excellent office and managerial skills; strong writing skills; proficiency in Google Microsoft Office, social media platforms and databases such as Salesforce preferred.
  • Ability and openness to maintain a flexible work schedule, including occasional evenings and weekends.
  • Comfort working and communicating with a diverse array of stakeholders (e.g., hospital administrators, medical staff, law enforcement, volunteers, survivors, etc.)


Experience Requirement

  • 1-3 years of experience in nonprofit, healthcare, community-based or other relevant settings.
  • Experience with direct practice and advocacy, community organization and public speaking; training and community education.


Compensation and Benefits

We’re so glad you asked. The annual salary starts from $68,000 - $73,000 and will be commensurate with the experience you bring to the table. At the beginning of each subsequent year of employment, any increase in salary shall be at the discretion of the CVTC Executive Staff and Board of Directors based on fiscal considerations and subject to favorable ratings on the employee’s annual performance review.The benefits are robust and include health, dental, vision and basic life insurance, generous vacation and holidays (including your birthday, because that is a holiday) and up to $1,000 per year of medical related expense reimbursement (for stuff not covered by insurance).
