We are looking to add a skilled and knowledgeable Veterinary Assistant to our team who has the necessary skills to support our veterinary staff in providing high-quality care to our patients. This role requires an understanding of veterinary medical terminology, function, and structure of animals, along with hands-on experience in pet care. We pride ourselves in providing a high standard of care through the newest medical advances and surgical practices including orthopedic, endoscopic and laparoscopic procedures. This position includes a flexible schedule with no weekend or on call hours.
Responsibilities
- Support veterinarians during exams and medical procedures by preparing instruments and equipment.
- Assist in surgical procedures, ensuring proper preparation, sterilization, and post-operative care.
- Provide compassionate care to animals, ensuring their comfort and safety through proper restraint techniques.
- Take vital signs, administer medications, and assist with diagnostic tests (e.g., blood work, x-rays).
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the clinic, including proper waste disposal and sanitization of instruments.
- Educate pet owners on proper pet care practices, including nutrition, grooming, and preventive health.
- Document patient information in medical records, ensuring accuracy in treatments, medications, and test results.
Qualifications
- Experience as a Veterinary Assistant is essential but not required.
- Familiarity with veterinary emergency care practices is a plus.
- Strong skills in animal restraint techniques to ensure safety for both the animal and staff.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills to interact with pet owners and team members professionally.
- A genuine love for animals and commitment to their welfare.
Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
