Job Summary
The Dolomite Internship Program creates an opportunity for college students to gain practical hands-on experience while working in their course of study under the close direction of an experienced supervisor/manager. As a Construction Intern, you will learn to assist in several aspects of various paving projects, navigate estimating and production target software, and coordinate with a variety of stakeholders including estimators and project managers. Interns in this position will gain exposure to quality assurance practices and the application of regulatory standards in a dynamic industrial setting.
Job Responsibilities
- Assist in preparation and setup of projects
- Assist with daily paving crew scheduling software
- Assist with crew production target setting software
- Assist with tracking daily quantities
- Assist with tracking project costs and payments
- Perform field measurements and grade checks
- Assist with job quantity measurements
- Assist with final billing quantities
- Plan, schedule, and coordinate work groups on the jobsite
- Learn estimating and bid tracking software
- Read specifications and plans
- Complete material and quantity takeoffs
- Work with estimators, project managers and construction crews.
- Spend time working with plant operators
- Assist with asphalt testing in the lab and on the job
Job Requirements
- Currently enrolled in a college degree program, preferably in Construction Management, Construction Engineering Technologies, Civil Engineering, or closely related program of study.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instruction
- Detail oriented
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize workloads in a fast-paced environment.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable automobile
- Willingness to drive to our multiple sites across the Greater Rochester Region and Southern Tier with mileage reimbursement program
