Position Overview

This is a skilled position where the employee will organize, develop, and oversee the operations in the Oil & Gas sector of aggregates, asphalt, ready mix and construction in the Basin and surrounding areas as well as a supporting role with transportation, QC and equipment departments. Organize and sell all materials into the Industrial, Commercial and Residential markets. Work with department managers and dispatch to achieve customers’ needs. 

 

 

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

  • Responsible for adhering and executing the Burdick Materials ZERO HARM Safety Plan
  • Safety and environmental stewardship of sites in the business unit.
  • Personnel recruitment, selection, training, coaching, and retention.
  • Development of budgets and management of the operations within the business unit to meet and exceed established budgets. Understands budgeting and financial reporting processes and analysis.
  • Work cooperatively with other area management and Clients to accomplish goals.
  • Continuously improve product sales and customer relations within all lines of business.
  • Ensure that Burdick/Nielson Companies is the Preferred Source and an industry leader in the area served by the business unit.
  • Possess excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrates the ability to work independently, without direct supervision.
  • Other duties as assigned per supervisor

 

 

Supervisory Responsibilities 

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

 

 

Qualifications

Education/Experience

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required; and three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Operations, Sales, Quality Control, Customer Service/Dispatch, and Supervisory experience preferred. 

 

Knowledge/Skill Requirements

  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write clearly and effectively.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, common fractions, and decimals.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to use hands to handle or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is required to stand; walk; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.

 

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; outside weather conditions; extreme cold and extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
