Activity Pay: $25 per hour; includes drive and sit time

Activity Stipend: $100 per 10 activities driven

Crete Public Schools is seeking applications for Activity Bus Drivers to begin with the 24/25 school year.  This position is an on-call / as needed position for driving activity trips as they are needed. This position is considered open until filled. 

Essential Requirements: 

1. Must possess a valid Nebraska drivers license with a CDL or able to obtain a CDL
2. Satisfactory driving record
3. No history of child abuse or negligence
4. Works well on a team with various personalities
5. High degree of flexibility and adaptability
6. High level of professionalism and interpersonal skills
7. Regular, dependable attendance on the job

Job Tasks: 

1. Drives a school transportation vehicle within a prescribed route(s) in accordance with time schedules
2. Picking up and discharging students at designated stops
3. Transport students and teacher on field trips to various locations; planning necessary route(s) and stops as needed
4. Operate transportation software to scan student badges
5. Operate two-way radio
6. Comply with federal, state, and School District policies, procedures, and regulations
7. Maintains order an proper discipline of student passengers according to district policy
8. Conduct safety and operational inspection of assigned vehicle daily
9. Reports needed mechanical repairs when necessary
10. Services buses with gas, diesel fuel, and oil; checks and when necessary fills tires and batteries
11. Performs periodical safety drills as required by law; completing necessary reports upon request
12. Maintains cleanliness of vehicle to ensure safe operating condition
13. Completes periodic mileage and other reports including passenger counts
14. Attends various meetings regarding safety, first aid and training updates as required
15. Attends driver training programs to maintain current knowledge of Nebraska Motor Vehicle Code and the Education Code as it applies to the operation of vehicles in the transportation of school children
16. Washes bus as needed
17. Performs related duties as required

Other Responsibilities:

Perform other tasks or duties as assigned by the supervisor.

At-Will Position: 

This position is an “at-will” position and may be terminated, with or without cause, at any time at the sole discretion of the Superintendent or Superintendent’s designee.
