POSITION SUMMARY
Manages the day-to-day activities of technicians and other shop personnel to ensure equipment repairs are completed safely and timely
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
* Ensuring staff adheres to company and industry safety standards
* Performs supervisory responsibilities to effectively manage personnel including interviewing, hiring, firing, training, developing, planning, assigning work,
coaching, appraising performance, disciplining, addressing complaints, and resolving problems
* Establishes location goals and objectives, measures progress, analyzes results, and makes improvements as needed
* Develops, implements, and refines policies and procedures to ensure overall effective performance
* Confers with fleets and other administrative personnel regarding terminal functions and equipment needs
* Processes shop work orders to ensure timely completion of equipment repairs
* Assists drivers with repair write-ups and addresses concerns as needed
* Coordinates with vendors to schedule warranty work
* Oversees parts procurement in order to maintain appropriate inventory levels and to control consumables
* Ensures compliance with all Federal, State, and local laws and Company policies and procedures
* Researches, compiles, updates, presents, and tracks spreadsheets and reports
* Receives and carries out instructions
* Manages regular and predictable attendance
* Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
* Performs work requiring advanced knowledge while consistently exercising discretion and judgement
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Strong supervisory and leadership skills
* Extensive knowledge of the principles, procedures, and best practices in the industry
* Solves problems and makes decisions independently and proactively
* Uses computers and software programs proficiently
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree; or three to four years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
* Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
* Ability to regularly lift 50 lbs. and occasionally lift up to 100 lbs.
* Must be able to work safely in a noisy area with many odors present
* Ability to travel as needed
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Valid driver's license, CDL preferred
EPA Certifications 608 and 609 preferred
Forklift certification
OTHER
Safety shoes (steel toe or composite) required
