Our internship:
It has been our experience that if we provide hope, choice, empowerment, and a restored belief in self, people will recover, increasing the likelihood of resiliency and reaching their personal recovery goals. Our programs provide 24-hour psychiatric rehabilitation, medical, nursing, and behavioral healthcare using a variety of evidence-based and best practices techniques such as Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, trauma-informed care, and peer support.
Crestwood’s clients are adults who are culturally diverse, primarily under-served or at-risk and have a primary mental health diagnosis, often with co-occurring disorders such as substance abuse, trauma, head injury, cognitive deficits and effects of living in poverty.
You can make a difference in the lives of our clients by helping them reach their recovery goals. You will be provided with opportunities to learn about the behavioral health system of care and participate as part of the interdisciplinary team.
We fully integrate interns into your assigned campuses’ treatment teams and will have opportunities to gain hours for hands-on learning, direct-client contact and direct-service tasks. Interns can customize their duties to fit their educational and professional needs.
Some direct client contact activities include leading and co-leading groups; facilitating community outings; assessments, interventions and documentation; adherence to policies and procedures, ethical standards, HIPAA, cultural competency; providing 1:1 counseling under the supervision and training of a supervisor; conducting biopsychosocial assessment and case conceptualizations.
Some non-direct client contact activities include administrative projects; quality improvement; program development; and data analysis.

Training:
Crestwood offers a robust training schedule in all areas related to policy and procedures, safety and wellness, and clinical treatment. We provide a full orientation, often side-by-side with our multidisciplinary staff. You will be provided with ongoing supervision that meets the requirements of the degree of your discipline.
All interns are required to complete a history and physical, TB test, fingerprinting and provide proof of COVID vaccination. Please bring forward any concerns with these items or needed accommodations and we will assist you. You must have a high degree of professionalism, desire to work with adults who have been historically marginalized, embrace teamwork and have the willingness to have fun!
