What are the responsibilities and job description for the Business Development Representative position at Cresting Wave?
About Cresting Wave
Cresting Wave sits at the intersection of enterprise decision-makers and the most innovative founder-led startups in security, AI, infrastructure, data, and modern software.
We bring together CTOs, CISOs, VPs of Engineering, and product leaders in private, invite-only innovation briefings—giving them early access to category-defining technologies before they go mainstream. No noisy conferences, no vendor pitch-fests, just high-signal conversations with people who actually shape technology decisions.
Our community runs on trust, relevance, and real relationships—and that’s where you come in.
The Role
We’re looking for a Business Development Manager to help grow and activate our Tech Leader Community.
This is not a traditional sales role. Cresting Wave is free for technology leaders, and your success isn’t measured by closing deals—it’s measured by building relationships, curating the right rooms, and creating experiences leaders want to show up for.
You’ll be at the center of an ecosystem where:
- Enterprise leaders stay ahead of what’s next
- Founders get meaningful access to real buyers
- Conversations turn into long-term partnerships
If you love building high-value networks, working directly with senior leaders, and being part of forward-looking technology conversations, this role will feel energizing—not transactional.
What You’ll Do
Grow the Tech Leader Community
- Identify, recruit, and onboard CTOs, CISOs, CIOs, and C-1 personas in specific categories (SOC, Infrastructure, Data, Security, etc).
- Build trusted relationships with leaders across SaaS, FinTech, Healthcare, Cybersecurity, AI, Cloud, and DevOps
- Position Cresting Wave as a go-to resource for discovering emerging enterprise technology
- Act as a connector—introducing the right people to the right ideas at the right time
Drive Attendance & Engagement
- Personally invite and confirm tech leaders for innovation briefings, founder demos, and private roundtables
- Ensure the right leaders are in the room for each technology and discussion
- Deliver a concierge-level experience that keeps members engaged and coming back
- Maintain long-term relationships, not one-off interactions
Why This Role Is Different
- You’re not selling software—you’re building a trusted community
- You’ll work directly with senior enterprise leaders and startup founders
- You’ll help shape the conversations that influence real buying decisions
- You’ll have visibility, autonomy, and impact working closely with the founder
- Your work compounds: every relationship you build makes the platform stronger
Who Thrives Here
- You’re naturally curious about technology and emerging trends
- You’re confident talking to senior leaders and enjoy relationship-driven work
- You’re organized, proactive, and comfortable owning outcomes
- You like being early—early to trends, early to companies, early to opportunity
