Team members join a small, dedicated staff focused on preserving the building, supporting productions, and ensuring a welcoming experience for guests.
Role Description The Handyman role at Crest Theater is a part-time, on-site position based in Sacramento, CA. This role is responsible for routine maintenance, repairs, and basic improvements throughout the theater, including seating areas, backstage spaces, restrooms, and public areas. Day-to-day tasks include performing minor electrical, plumbing, and carpentry work, conducting safety and facility inspections, addressing work orders, and coordinating with management on maintenance priorities. The Handyman also supports event readiness by ensuring the building is operational, presentable, and safe before and after shows. Evening and weekend hours may be required based on event schedules.
Qualifications
- Hands-on experience with general building maintenance, including basic carpentry, painting, and minor repairs.
- Working knowledge of simple electrical and plumbing tasks, with the ability to troubleshoot common facility issues.
- Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, and ladders, following established safety procedures.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize multiple maintenance requests.
- Reliable, punctual, and comfortable working independently as well as with a small operations team.
- Physical ability to lift, carry, move equipment and materials, and perform tasks that require standing, bending, and climbing
.
Good attitude a must. Realistic hours would be between 10-20 hours a week.
