School Lead Nurse

Salary Range: $54987-$116598 based on 184 days

Position Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate, highly organized, and experienced Lead School Nurse to oversee our student health services. CREST Collaborative provides school services to special education students, Pre-kindergarten through the age of 22. The Lead Nurse serves as the primary health professional for the school community, providing direct clinical care to students while also managing health office operations, supervising staff, and ensuring compliance with state and local health regulations.
The ideal candidate is a proactive leader who can manage both the daily medical needs of a diverse student body and the strategic planning of school-wide wellness initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
1. Clinical Care & Student Health
Provide high-quality nursing care to students, including first aid, emergency care, and chronic disease management (e.g., diabetes, asthma, seizures).
Collaborate with educators, families, and healthcare providers to develop and implement individualized health plans
Administer medications and perform specialized medical procedures in accordance with physician orders and state nursing protocols.
2. Leadership & Administration
Supervise and support nurses in the school health office, as well as in our medically fragile classrooms.
Coordinate the school’s immunization compliance, vision/hearing screenings, and health record maintenance.
Serve as the primary liaison between the school, local public health departments, and families regarding communicable disease control (e.g., COVID-19, flu outbreaks).
Collaborate with the School Physician to maintain school-wide medication orders, and consult when needed regarding any current health concerns.
Manage the health office budget and procurement of medical supplies.
3. Health Education & Wellness
Act as a resource for faculty and staff on student health issues and safety procedures.
Provide ongoing in-services to staff in support of student’s complex health needs.
Coordinate training for staff on Epinephrine auto-injector use, CPR/First Aid, and bloodborne pathogens.
Collaborate with the Clinical Director and clinical team to support student mental health and social-emotional wellness.
Completes all required trainings.
Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.
