The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for maintaining a safe and efficient production environment while ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction with product assembly and quality. This role focuses on building a high-performing team through training, coaching, and performance management to meet manufacturing objectives. The Manufacturing Engineer exercises independent judgment to optimize operations, implement process improvements, and efficiently utilize resources to achieve production goals and control costs. This position oversees daily manufacturing activities, including workforce direction, labor training, scheduling, and material purchasing, while periodically supporting wage and salary administration.
Functions:
- Coordinates New Product Introduction (NPI) efforts with scheduling, materials, and manufacturing teams to ensure smooth and timely product launches.
- Determines and reports monthly shipment targets and production metrics.
- Provides daily supervision of production schedules, customer requirements, work performance, and quality issues.
- Ensures that proper tools, procedures, trained personnel, and work instructions are in place to support successful product assembly.
- Identifies and resolves production problems and scheduling conflicts in a timely manner.
- Communicates effectively with internal teams and customers to support organizational objectives.
- Completes all required compliance and safety training, including Safety, Health, and Environmental (SHE) protocols.
- Maintains adherence to AS9100 and ISO quality standards and procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred (4-year degree in a technical or engineering discipline).
- Minimum 10 years of relevant manufacturing or operations experience.
- Strong knowledge of ERP systems and above-average proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Solid understanding of AS9100 quality requirements and Safety, Health, and Environmental regulations.
- Excellent organizational skills with close attention to detail and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment.
- Ability to work independently and proactively as well as collaboratively within a team.
- Aerospace or defense industry experience is preferred.
- Familiarity with ITAR and EAR regulations is a plus.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position directly supervises department leads in areas including Inventory, Shipping/Receiving, Purchasing, and Production Planning.
Physical & Cognitive Demands:
- Prolonged sitting at a desk and working on multiple computer screens/programs.
- Occasional lifting (up to 30 lbs.), standing, walking, and use of short ladders/step stools.
- High workload with multi-tasking and deadline pressure.
- Wrist ergonomics and prolonged mental focus are required for analytical decision-making.
