Position Summary
The Banquet Houseperson is responsible for the physical set-up, breakdown, and resetting of all banquet functions with minimal supervision. This role ensures that every meeting room, buffet, and event space meets our rigorous four-diamond standards for presentation and cleanliness. As a key member of the logistics team, you will translate Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) into functional, aesthetically pleasing environments for our guests.
Key Responsibilities
Event Coordination and Execution:
- Technical Set-Up: Execute the proper arrangement of function rooms, coffee breaks, buffets, and bars based on specific BEO requirements.
- Transition Management: Perform timely breakdowns and resets, ensuring all function spaces are thoroughly cleaned and prepared for subsequent events.
- Equipment Mastery: Maintain expert knowledge of various equipment types and set-up styles (e.g., theater, classroom, U-shape, and banquet).
- Quality Control: Ensure all tabletop utensils and room details are polished and presentable; maintain high sanitation standards for every function.
Operational Support and Safety:
- Facility Maintenance: Conduct daily inspections of banquet hallways, meeting rooms, storerooms, and public areas to ensure they are in working order.
- Communication: Participate in pre-shift meetings and maintain a constant exchange of information with Banquet Captains, Managers, and fellow associates.
- Safety Adherence: Follow all corporate safety and security policies; immediately report maintenance needs, accidents, or unsafe work conditions.
- Environment Stewardship: Maintain a clean, organized, and environmentally responsible workspace.
Employment Standards
Required Qualifications:
- Age: Must be at least 18 years of age (21 if required to operate resort vehicles).
- Licensing: Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory motor vehicle record (required for vehicle operation).
- Certifications: Mandatory Food Handler’s Certificate, TABC Certification, and TIPs Training.
- Communication: Proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing English; bilingual skills in Spanish are considered an asset.
- Experience: Previous experience in banquet set-up, particularly within a luxury resort environment, is highly valued.
Physical Requirements and Skills:
- Physical Strength: Ability to frequently lift and move equipment, tables, and chairs weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Stamina: Sufficient physical agility to perform demanding manual labor throughout a full shift.
- Professionalism: Must be a self-starter with a "team-first" mentality and maintain impeccable grooming standards, including the use of slip-resistant footwear.
