This is a mid to senior-level position that will focus on ensuring compliance with various regulatory frameworks, accounting standards, and industry-specific guidelines. The successful candidate will have a strong background in oil & gas financial reporting, regulatory requirements, and the ability to work cross-functionally with various teams to ensure accurate and timely reporting in a fast-paced environment.

Primary Responsibilities
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with local, national, and international regulations affecting upstream oil and gas accounting. Stay current on regulatory changes and implement necessary adjustments to internal policies and procedures.
- Tax and Royalties: Manage accounting for taxes, royalties, and other obligations specific to the upstream sector, ensuring accurate calculations, timely payments, and proper reporting to regulatory authorities.
- Audit Support: Collaborate with external auditors to provide necessary documentation and insights for annual audits, ensuring a smooth audit process with minimal disruptions.
- Internal Controls: Develop and maintain strong internal controls over financial reporting and regulatory compliance to minimize risk and safeguard assets.
- Policy Development: Contribute to the creation and updating of internal policies and procedures to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements, accounting principles, and operational best practices.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with operational teams (geologists, engineers, and project managers) to understand project specifics and provide financial insight on regulatory and accounting implications.
- Bachelors or Masters degree in accounting required
- Minimum 5-8 years of experience in accounting or finance within the upstream oil and gas industry, with a strong understanding of regulatory reporting and compliance.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office products, particularly Excel
- Major ERP system experience is preferred; SAP experience is beneficial
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work on multiple, complex projects, simultaneously with frequent interruptions and see them through to completion with limited supervision
