Crescent Energy is seeking a skilled GIS Specialist - Land to serve as embedded geospatial support for the Land Department. This role combines technical GIS expertise with strong analytical capabilities to fulfill cartographic requests, manage portal-based mapping solutions, and coordinate polygon drafting activities in support of land and lease management operations. This role will serve as functional GIS liaison to Land Administration and Landmen within the Land Department serving all functional front end user requests from land.

Primary Responsibilities

Geospatial Analysis & Cartography

  • Produce high-quality maps, visualizations, and cartographic products to support Land Department decision-making and operational workflows
  • Respond to ad hoc and recurring mapping requests, both analytic and cartographic, with accuracy and efficiency
  • Design and maintain web-based portal maps in Enterprise ESRI Portal environment tailored to internal stakeholder needs
  • Data Management & Polygon Drafting
  • Draft, edit, and maintain land and lease polygons in accordance with internal standards and legal descriptions
  • Perform quality control on geospatial datasets to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with company protocols
  • Coordinate with external contractors performing polygon drafting, ensuring alignment with Land Department objectives and timelines

Collaboration & Support

  • Serve as the primary GIS resource embedded within the Land Department, building strong working relationships with land professionals
  • Translate business requirements into geospatial solutions and communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences
  • Participate in cross-functional projects requiring geospatial input or analysis

Technology & Tools

  • Utilize industry-standard GIS software (e.g., Esri ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise Portal) and related geospatial technologies
  • Maintain and enhance existing GIS workflows, databases, and mapping applications
  • Stay current with emerging geospatial technologies and recommend improvements to existing processes

Required Qualifications

Professional Competencies

  • Bachelor's degree in Geography, Geographic Information Systems, Geospatial Science, or a related field required OR a minimum of 15 years of progressive, hands-on GIS experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a GIS Analyst or GIS Specialist role, preferably supporting land management, oil & gas, or natural resources operations

Technical Skills

  • 5 years’ experience drafting and editing polygon features from legal descriptions, surveys, or field data.
  • Proficiency with Esri ArcGIS Suite (ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise Portal)
  • Strong cartographic design skills and attention to detail
  • Thorough Understanding of Metes and Bounds legal description mapping
  • Ability and desire to learn new workflows in alignment with spatial database best practices such as versioned edit SDE environments

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in the oil & gas industry or petroleum land management domain
  • Experience with petroleum land lease records, maintenance and management
  • Knowledge of coordinate systems, projections, and geodetic datums
  • Knowledge of web mapping frameworks in ArcGIS Enterprise Portal

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively across departments
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple concurrent requests
  • Self-motivated with a proactive approach to problem-solving
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining alignment with departmental goals

Work Environment

  • Office-based position with Friday remote work arrangement
  • Collaboration with cross-functional teams across the organization
