Job Title: Quality Engineer – Rigless Plug & Abandonment Services
Location: Belle Chasse, LA
Reports To: Operations Manager
Position Overview
The Quality Engineer will ensure compliance with industry standards, client requirements, and internal quality management systems for rigless Plug & Abandonment (P&A) operations. This role focuses on maintaining service quality, implementing continuous improvement initiatives, and supporting operational teams to deliver safe, efficient, and reliable well abandonment services. Additionally, the Quality Engineer will manage the Safety and Environmental Management System (SEMS) program to ensure regulatory compliance and operational integrity.
Key Responsibilities
- Quality Assurance & Compliance
- Develop, implement, and maintain quality procedures aligned with ISO, API, and client specifications.
- Conduct audits on rigless P&A operations, equipment, and documentation to ensure compliance.
- Monitor adherence to regulatory requirements and company standards.
- SEMS Program Management
- Ensure full compliance with SEMS requirements as per BSEE and applicable regulations.
- Manage and maintain the SEMS program, including documentation, audits, and corrective actions.
- Coordinate SEMS training for personnel and verify competency.
- Conduct hazard analysis and ensure Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) are properly implemented.
- Operational Support
- Collaborate with engineering and field teams to resolve quality-related issues during P&A activities.
- Review and approve job-specific quality plans, risk assessments, and work instructions.
- Ensure proper calibration and certification of tools and equipment used in rigless P&A.
- Continuous Improvement
- Analyze non-conformance reports (NCRs) and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Drive root cause analysis for operational failures and quality deviations.
- Identify opportunities for process optimization and cost reduction without compromising safety or quality.
- Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, audits, and quality performance metrics.
- Prepare and present quality and SEMS compliance reports to management and clients.
Qualifications & Skills
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (preferred), or other relevant experience.
- Experience:
- Minimum 3–5 years in quality assurance, preferably in well intervention or P&A services.
- Familiarity with rigless operations and downhole tools.
- Experience managing SEMS programs and regulatory compliance.
- Certifications: ISO 9001 Lead Auditor, API Q1/Q2 knowledge preferred; SEMS training/certification desirable.
