Overview
We are seeking a dedicated PRN Mobile Phlebotomist to join our healthcare team on an as-needed basis. This role involves traveling to various patient locations to perform blood draws and specimen collection with a focus on providing exceptional patient care. The ideal candidate will possess strong laboratory skills, excellent patient service abilities, and a thorough understanding of clinical procedures. This position offers flexible scheduling and the opportunity to contribute to vital diagnostic services in diverse settings. We are looking for someone to perform STAT services to Pontchartrain Healthcare when needed and to fill in for phlebotomist when she is off.
Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture and capillary blood sampling using aseptic techniques to ensure specimen integrity.
- Collect, process, and label specimens accurately according to laboratory protocols.
- Obtain vital signs and assess patient condition as needed prior to specimen collection.
- Maintain patient comfort and provide compassionate care during procedures.
- Follow all safety and infection control procedures, including proper use of PPE and adherence to OSHA standards.
- Document collection details accurately in electronic health records or laboratory information systems.
- Transport specimens securely to designated laboratories or processing areas in a timely manner.
- Communicate effectively with patients, caregivers, and healthcare providers regarding specimen collection procedures.
Requirements
- Proven laboratory experience with knowledge of laboratory procedures, techniques, and specimen handling.
- Certification or training in phlebotomy, with demonstrated proficiency in venipuncture and blood sampling.
- Strong understanding of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and clinical laboratory practices.
- Prior hospital or clinical laboratory experience is preferred.
- Excellent patient service skills with the ability to manage diverse patient populations professionally and compassionately.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining attention to detail and adhering to safety protocols.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are required for mobile service delivery.
- Flexibility to work PRN schedule based on staffing needs and patient demand.
Pay: $16.00 - $19.00 per hour
