What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Custodian position at Crenshaw Christian Center?
Primary Purpose
Provide day-to-day cleaning of the buildings, with minimal ground maintenance.
Position Responsibilities
- Day-to-day cleaning of rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, corridors, stairways, and other work areas so that the health standards are maintained
- Day-to-day service, cleaning and supply restrooms
- Empty wastebaskets and transport other trash and waste to disposal areas
- Clean rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and draperies
- Dust and polish furniture and equipment
- Keep storage areas and carts well-stocked, clean and tidy
- Wash windows, walls, ceilings and woodwork, waxing and polishing as necessary
- Sweep, scrub, wax or polish floors, using brooms, mops, or powered scrubbing and waxing machines
- Assist with setup and take-down for various meetings and events
- Minimal ground maintenance including watering, leaf removal and other basic tasks
- Stock supplies as needed
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Physical dexterity (ability to stand, stoop, bend and stretch for long periods of time)
- 2-4 years of experience in the field or in a related area desired.
Skills, Knowledge, & Abilities
- Understanding of cleaning standards and procedures
- Knowledge of cleaning supplies, equipment and hazardous chemicals
- Ability to operate mechanical cleaning equipment
- Basic grounds maintenance skills
- Ability to lift and manually lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance
- Ability to work with professional staff
