Our Veterinary Assistants are an essential part of the hospital, working alongside veterinarians and technicians to provide exceptional patient care. From assisting with appointments and treatments to keeping patients comfortable and helping with daily hospital operations, you'll have the opportunity to be involved in many aspects of veterinary medicine.
Don't have veterinary experience? Don't let that stop you! While previous experience is a plus, we're willing to train someone who brings a strong work ethic, positive attitude, and genuine desire to learn. We value dependable team members who take initiative, pay attention to detail, and are always willing to lend a hand.
The ideal candidate will have availability to work one weekend day (Saturdays 9a-6p or Sundays 8a-7p) and can work evenings on some days (until 8pm) during the week.
Your Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Support veterinarians and veterinary technicians during examinations, treatments, and medical procedures.
- Safely handle and restrain animals to ensure the comfort and safety of patients and staff.
- Assist with administering medications and carrying out patient care instructions under veterinary supervision.
- Provide routine animal care, including feeding, walking, bathing, and monitoring patients.
- Maintain clean, sanitary, and organized exam rooms, treatment areas, kennels, and outdoor spaces.
- Record accurate patient information, including medical histories, treatments, medications, and observations.
- Monitor patients for changes in health, behavior, or comfort and communicate concerns to the medical team.
- Interact with clients in a friendly, professional, and compassionate manner.
- Provide support with reception duties as needed, including answering phones, greeting clients, and updating patient records.
- Work collaboratively with coworkers to ensure the hospital operates efficiently and patients receive excellent care.
