Job Title: Fleet Maintenance Assistant
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt, hourly

Job Summary Primary responsibility is to assist the maintenance department with maintaining and repairs of all fleet vehicles and facility equipment.

Education/Experience: High school graduate or GED. Strong understanding of pneumatics, hydraulics, and mechanics preferred.
Certifications/Licenses: Forklift certification preferred. CDL beneficial but not required.
Driving Requirements: Follow all FMCSA and DOT regulations, where applicable. May be required to drive for parts.
Physical Requirements – Lift, push, pull and carry up to 55 pounds chest high. Tip and move 55-gallon drums, weighing up to 600 pounds with the use of equipment and/or vehicles. Must be able to reach, push, pull, and grasp with arms and hands. Will require fine motor skills and daily standing, crouching and/or kneeling, sitting, walking, driving, climbing, and transitioning in/out of vehicles. Must be able to talk, hear and feel attributes of objects or temperatures by touching with the skin. Required to have the visual acuity to safely and legally operate motor vehicles, close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment – Indoors and outdoors, with some exposure to environmental conditions such as extreme winter weather, precipitation and wind. Includes potential exposure to harmful chemicals, dust, odors, fumes, oil and gases. Noise level is typically moderate, occasionally loud.
Language Skills: Ability to read, interpret and understand documents such as safety rules, safety data sheets (SDS’s), operating instructions and procedure manual. English language fluency in reading, writing and speaking.
Computer Skills – Efficiently navigate a web browser, mobile applications, Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Teams, Word, SharePoint, etc.), and electronic timesheets.
Work Ethic – Be trustworthy, dependable, respectful, and truthful with a commitment to safety and excellent customer service. Follow policies and procedures and take responsibility for your own actions.

- Assist with ensuring all DOT vehicles are in compliance with DOT regulations
- Assist with facility pumps and systems maintenance
- Maintain an effective and organized work space
- Assist with cleaning the shop
- Safe operation and maintenance of all equipment and tools
- Follows proper hazardous waste disposal procedures
- Responsible for following Health, Safety and Environmental procedures in the shop
- Special projects as needed
