Job Title: Blender/Yard Technician
Location: Odessa TX
Remote Status: On-site
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt, Hourly
Schedule: M-F, Daytime Hours. Occasional weekends and after normal working hours. Workweek will vary between 40-55 hours/week.

Job Summary Responsible for blending production chemicals and supporting daily production chemicals facility operations. Assists with raw material tracking, inventory, QA/QC documentation, equipment readiness, and the safe, accurate, and timely production of finished chemical products in compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards.
 
Expectations Requires high level of initiative, self-motivation, and organizational skills. Must have a strong attention to detail and commitment to safety procedures and regulations. Given parameters but works with little supervision. Must be able to thrive in a fast-paced work environment, effectively balancing a sense of urgency with a commitment to safety.
 
Essential Duties - other duties as assigned
  • Blend production chemicals according to established formulas, procedures, and production schedules
  • Prepare, package, label, and stage finished blended products for shipment or transfer
  • Track raw chemical lot numbers and maintain proper labeling and traceability
  • Collect samples and perform quality control testing and documentation in a timely manner
  • Serve as a cross-functional team member by providing backup support to the Facilities team as operational needs require
  • Assist with inventory management by stocking, organizing, and monitoring raw materials and finished products
  • Safely operate equipment such as pumps, forklifts, and other material-handling equipment
  • Load and unload totes, pallets, trucks, and tankers while adhering to facility SOPs, forklift safety protocols, spill prevention measures, and DOT load securement requirements.
  • Clean, inspect, and maintain equipment
  • Responsible for building and yard maintenance, cleaning, and upkeep
  • Assist with end of day procedures – properly storing equipment and tools, cleaning, closing and locking up the facility, etc.
  • Follow proper hazardous waste disposal procedures
  • Follow Health, Safety, and Environmental procedures in the shop and yard
  • Identify and recommend solutions to safety and security issues
  • Work well independently and as a team
  • Provide excellent customer service
Qualifications 
Education/Experience: High school diploma, GED, or at least 1 year of relevant work experience required. 1 years of experience in production chemical facility operations preferred. Strong mathematical and mechanical aptitude. Demonstrated proficiency in operating equipment such as forklift and skid steer.
Certifications/Licenses: Forklift certification required. CDL beneficial.
Driving Requirements: Follow all FMCSA and DOT regulations, where applicable. Safe operation of forklifts.
 
Physical Requirements – Lift, push, pull, and carry up to 55 pounds chest high. Tip and move 55-gallon drums, weighing up to 600 pounds, with the use of equipment and/or vehicles. Must be able to reach, push, pull, twist, and grasp with arms and hands. Will require fine motor skills and daily standing, twisting, bending, crouching and/or kneeling, sitting, walking, climbing, driving, and transitioning in/out of vehicles. Must be able to talk, hear, and feel attributes of objects or temperatures by touching with the skin.
Required to have the visual acuity to safely and legally operate motor vehicles, close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment – Indoors and outdoors, with regular exposure to environmental conditions such as extreme weather, precipitation, and wind. Includes potential exposure to harmful chemicals, dust, odors, fumes, oil, and gases. Noise level is typically moderate, occasionally loud.
Financial Skills – Understands the financial implications of business decisions and inventory control, effective budgeting skills, and value of preventative maintenance program.
Language Skills – Ability to read, interpret, and understand documents such as safety rules, safety data sheets (SDSs), operating instructions, and procedure manuals. English language fluency in reading, writing, speaking, and comprehending is necessary.
Cognitive Skills – Must be able to focus for extended periods of time while performing detailed blending, inventory, and documentation tasks. Ability to comprehend and apply QA/QC requirements, safety procedures, and environmental regulations. Must be able to problem solve, prioritize work, and make sound decisions in a fast-paced production environment.
Computer Skills – Efficiently navigate a web browser, mobile applications, Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Teams, Word, SharePoint, etc.), and electronic timesheets. A smart phone is required for access to mobile applications.
Mathematical Skills – Ability to accurately calculate and record chemical inventory is crucial. Must be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using weight and volume measurements.
Work Ethic – Be trustworthy, dependable, respectful, and truthful with a commitment to safety and excellent customer service. Follow policies and procedures and take responsibility for your own actions.
