Executive Nurse

Company Overview

The Executive Nurse is responsible for the overall clinical and operational leadership of the residence. This role combines nursing oversight with administrative responsibility to ensure high-quality resident care, regulatory compliance, staff management, and efficient day-to-day operations. The Executive Nurse serves as both a clinical leader and a “universal employee,” actively supporting all aspects of the residence as needed.

SALARY: $65,000/year based on experience

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Leadership & Operations

1. Plans, organizes, and directs daily operations of the residence in accordance with company policies and procedures.

2. Oversees hiring, training, supervision, evaluation, and, when necessary, discipline or termination of staff.

3. Ensures adequate staffing levels and staff performance to meet resident needs.

4. Participates in daily operations as needed, including direct care and floor support.

5. Authorizes a responsible designee to act in their absence.

Clinical Oversight & Resident Care

6. Oversees all clinical services and ensures delivery of high-quality resident care.

7. Conducts and/or supervises initial and ongoing resident assessments.

8. Develops, implements, and updates Negotiated Service Agreements/Health Care Plans.

9. Ensures physician orders are followed and properly documented.

10. Oversees medication administration and monitors staff for compliance with best practices.

11. Coordinates medical services including pharmacy, therapy, and home health providers.

12. Communicates changes in resident condition to families, providers, and staff as appropriate.

13. Provides direct resident care when necessary.

Compliance & Quality Assurance

14. Ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations.

15. Implements and monitors infection control practices and safety standards.

16. Maintains accurate and timely documentation of resident care and services.

17. Ensures required health screenings, physicals, and TB testing for staff and residents.

18. Oversees required reporting to regulatory agencies.

19. Maintains quality assurance standards across all departments.

Financial & Administrative Management

20. Oversees the financial health of the residence, including budgeting and expense control.

21. Assists in developing and managing annual operating and capital budgets.

22. Ensures proper collection and use of funds in accordance with company guidelines.

23. Negotiates and manages vendor and service contracts.

24. Prepares reports for ownership and regulatory agencies as required.

Communication & Coordination

25. Ensures effective communication among staff, residents, families, and providers.

26. Leads staff meetings, trainings, and in-service programs.

27. Addresses and resolves concerns or grievances from residents, families, and staff.

28. Maintains clear communication through documentation systems and team updates.

Marketing & Community Engagement

29. Promotes the residence within the community in a positive and professional manner.

30. Maintains involvement in community and professional organizations.

31. Supports census development and occupancy goals.

On-Call & Availability

32. Maintains on-call availability for clinical and operational support as needed.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and assist residents (up to 150 lbs with assistance).
• Ability to lift/carry up to 35 lbs.
• Ability to perform hands-on care duties when needed.
• Adequate vision, hearing, and mobility (with or without reasonable accommodation).

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Participates in orientation, staff development, and ongoing training.
• Supports a positive, team-oriented work environment.
• Performs additional duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; current state nursing license required.
• Management or leadership experience in senior living, healthcare, or related field.
• Strong knowledge of state and federal healthcare regulations.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
• Ability to function in both clinical and administrative capacities.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
