Valid Driver License Required. Driving is required (mileage is reimbursed). Company car available at times. This position requires lifting (to set up events). Core business hours are Monday - Friday 8a - 5p, but other hours will be required, including on some weekends. This is a Salaried, Non-Exempt position, so salary each pay period, plus overtime is available as needed.
POSITION SUMMARY
Enhances the quality of life for our members/team members by meeting or exceeding their service expectations. Provides information about the benefits of credit union membership to current and potential businesses and members. Cultivates new and maintains existing relationships with businesses and community partners. Ensures that businesses and prospective members are promptly and professionally served, including opening new memberships. Provides general information and cross-sells products and services. Cultivates relationships with those in leadership positions from a wide range of businesses in various communities to ensure goals are achieved. Participates in community outreach programs. Works with the Marketing & Communications Manager to achieve business and new membership growth sales goals and community outreach objectives. Significant time is spent outside of the office.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Business Development – Develops and maintains consistently high membership volumes from many business partners. Develops and implements sales strategies for increased market penetration. Contacts prospective businesses and works closely with community partners to present information on the benefits of Credit Union West membership and products and services. Establishing and maintaining effective partnerships and communication with branch leadership. Ensures the credit union's quality and professional reputation is projected and maintained.
• Community Relations – Represents the credit union at community and charitable events, business gatherings, and social events with the objective of developing partnerships, sponsorships, and membership development in the community. Establish and maintains ongoing relationships with community partners to continue to expand and grow. Coordinates sponsorship disbursement events with selected community recipients throughout the calendar year.
• Administration and Reporting – Completes sales activity, prospect lead pipeline reports, and records information promptly. Establish and executes business development calendar activities for both business development and community relations. Interfaces with Marketing on development and distribution of brochures and promotional material. Maintain Community Relations Event & Sponsorship budget.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s degree obtained through a formal 4-year program at an accredited educational facility preferred or equivalent experience.
EXPERIENCE:
A minimum of 1-3 years of business development experience in a financial institution preferred.
SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
• Understands prospecting, sales and referral generation, needs-based selling and consumer trends. • Experience building and maintaining professional partnerships with community and business leaders. • Live the mission, vision, and core values of the credit union. • Able to communicate effectively and tactfully with employees and members both orally and in writing. • Demonstrate critical thinking and being self-reliant to better analyze and solve problems. • Effective time management and organizational skills. Ability to multi-task and be agile to serve members and employees. • Maintain working knowledge of Microsoft Office, SharePoint, and collaborative tools (Teams and Zoom). • Thorough knowledge and understanding of organization’s Employee Handbook and policies. • Must demonstrate a functional knowledge of the Bank Secrecy Act in addition to other Federal laws, including but not limited to U.S. Patriot Act, Office of Foreign Assets & Control, Anti Money Laundering, Right to Financial Privacy Act, and the Bank Bribery Act.
