The Job at a Glance
The Dealer Relationship Manager is responsible for establishing and maintaining profitable, long-term relationships with automobile dealerships to promote CU1’s indirect lending program. Acting as a liaison, the DRM provides guidance, training, and support to dealers on the Credit Union's loan products and monitors dealer metrics and performance. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of the Credit Union’s products and programs and ensures dealer organizations comply with CU1’s policies and standards.
A Typical Day
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with dealers through regular, off-site engagement.
- Actively promote the Credit Union’s benefits to generate new business opportunities.
- Coordinate and participate in marketing efforts and various dealer functions.
- Communicate Credit Union policies and procedures effectively to dealers.
- Collaborate with underwriting and funding teams to resolve funding issues and dealer complaints.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory standards.
- Provide prompt, friendly, and accurate service to internal and external customers.
- Represent the Credit Union in a courteous and professional manner.
- Attend required meetings and training sessions.
- Monitor and report production, efficiencies, performance, and dealer visits (daily, weekly, monthly).
- Perform other essential job functions as required or assigned.
- Maintain efficient interdepartmental communication to foster teamwork and Member service.
- Communicate application quality, credit decisions, and dealer portfolio performance effectively.
- Performance will be assessed on volume, look-to-book ratios, and dealer portfolio performance.

What We Look For
- Associate degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
- 3-5 years of related indirect auto sales experience required.
- Strong oral, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Proven leadership abilities to effectively communicate and interact within the Credit Union and franchise dealerships.
- Ability to resolve somewhat complex problems through data analysis and decision-making.
- Analytical ability, judgement, and ingenuity. There is a moderate amount of discretion available in the job.
- Strong negotiation skills.
- Proven track record of successfully growing indirect lending portfolios.
- Effective communication and follow-up on buybacks, title issues and ancillary product refunds.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, Excel, PowerPoint, Sales Force, Windows-based PCs.
- At least 50% travel to dealerships. Valid driver's license, liability insurance, and dependable vehicle required.
