The Technology and AV Specialist
is responsible for supporting the network, IT, software and event facility AV aspects of CreaTV and Open San José’s facilities, operations, equipment, technology, and maintenance. The position reports to the Client Services Manager and works in direct collaboration with the other Managers. The candidate who will fill this position is a go getter and works well independently as well as under supervision.


Essential Responsibilities / Duties
:

This position is largely in-person or hybrid subject to CreaTV’s telecommuting policies and ability to perform the duties as discussed herein, understanding that the duties referenced herein are not exhaustive and the individual may be required to perform additional or different duties based on business needs.


Leadership & Strategy

  • Lead the organization’s IT vision and oversee the ongoing development and support of technology systems.
  • Serve as a consultative partner to department managers, advising on technologies that enhance staff efficiency and effectiveness.

Systems & IT Administration

  • Administer and manage the Microsoft 365 suite, ensuring system functionality and resolving technical issues.
  • Oversee the technical aspects of the organization’s website and database.
  • Implement software and firmware updates across systems including networks, Apple devices, conferencing tools, and AV equipment.
  • Maintain and update a comprehensive equipment inventory, conducting annual audits to ensure accuracy.

User & Staff Support

  • Provide day-to-day IT support to CreaTV staff, department teams, users, and community members.
  • Deliver AV and technical support for Open San José events and facility rentals.

Qualifications

Technical Expertise

  • Proficiency with IT systems including Microsoft 365 administration, Meraki MDM, Apple business licensing, MacOS, iPadOS, Ubiquiti, Netgear, Teams phone management, VLAN management, multicast traffic, IGMP, user and device management, Salesforce, and Power over Ethernet (PoE) standards.
  • Working knowledge of AV systems such as Extron control systems and NAV, Symmetrix DSPs, Crown amplifiers, Blackmagic routers, Panasonic projectors, Samsung displays, Dante Audio, ProPresenter, and Shure MXW.
  • Strong database infrastructure skills, including database use, basic web maintenance, Microsoft Office, spreadsheet programs, and desktop publishing.
  • High degree of technological proficiency with a demonstrated ability and willingness to continually learn and develop new technology and media skills.

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Strong team leadership skills with a proven ability to foster collaboration across departments.
  • Ability to work creatively and flexibly in a team environment, operating independently with minimal supervision while also accepting direction and guidance when appropriate.

Customer & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to engage clients, staff, and community members in a positive and professional manner.
  • Effective vendor and integrator management experience.

Communication & Knowledge

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Familiarity with community media, civic technology, public access, and the nonprofit media field.

Other Requirements

  • Manual dexterity and coordination required to operate small push buttons, keys, and switches associated with electronic devices and computers.
  • Ability to operate video equipment during productions and education courses.
  • Able to work a flexible work schedule including evenings and weekends.

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Network Administration, Computer Systems Administration, or a related field, and at least three years of full-time television/media production experience; or any combination of education, certifications, and directly related experience that provides the equivalent background and skills.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a related professional environment.

This is a full-time, hourly, non-exempt position with a generous benefits package, including health, dental, vision, retirement, and unlimited paid time off and generous holiday policies. $33.83 - $39.62/hour depending on experience.
