Skid & Pallet Builder

Job Summary

The Skid and Pallet Builder is responsible for constructing, assembling, and repairing wooden pallets, skids, and crates used for shipping and material handling. This role ensures all finished products meet quality, durability, and safety standards required for manufacturing and distribution operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Build, assemble, and repair wooden pallets, skids, and crates using hand tools, power tools, and woodworking machinery.
• Read and interpret production orders, blueprints, and specifications to ensure accurate dimensions and construction requirements.
• Select, stage, and prepare lumber and materials based on job specifications.
• Measure, cut, and shape wood components with precision to meet required standards.
• Safely operate tools such as nail guns, saws, drills, and other carpentry equipment.
• Inspect finished pallets and skids for defects and structural integrity; make repairs as needed.
• Load, stack, band, and stage completed pallets or skids for internal use or shipment.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area in compliance with 5S and housekeeping expectations.
• Conduct basic maintenance checks on tools and report malfunctioning equipment.
• Follow all safety procedures, including the proper use of PPE and adherence to lockout/tagout processes where applicable.
• Collaborate with team members to achieve daily production and quality targets.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and finished products weighing up to 50–75 lbs on a regular basis.
• Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, reaching, and twisting throughout the entire shift.
• Ability to stand and perform repetitive tasks for 8–10 hours per shift.
• Manual dexterity to handle tools, lumber, nails, and small components safely and efficiently.
• Ability to work in varying temperatures depending on the season (manufacturing environment may be hot or cold).
