What are the responsibilities and job description for the Part-time Infant Teacher position at Creative Nursery and Preschool?
Creative Nursery and Preschool is seeking an energetic, positive, patient, loving, responsible and reliable individual to assist with all functions of the child care program in our infant room (6 week to 1 year).
This part time position is Monday-Friday, 7am-10am.
This position is ideal for someone who is retired or a college student with morning availability.
The ideal candidate will have college level coursework in Early Childhood Education or Child Development and/or will have at least one year of experience in a child care program working with infants.
Following are a few examples of the kind of care the infant teacher will provide.
-Nurture and support the development of the children in the program in all domains (Cognitive, Physical, Language, Literacy, Mathematics and Social-Emotional)
-Read to the children, play with them, comfort them when they are upset, etc
-Engage with children during play and help them learn about the world around them
-Teach children expected behaviors
-Actively supervise children at all times ensuring their safety
-Record details of the day in the Brightwheel app
-Communicate with parents at drop-off and/or pick-up
-Utilize gentle redirection/positive discipline
-Change children's diapers, followed by 3-step cleaning and sanitizing
-Prepare and feed bottles and other developmentally appropriate foods
-Maintain ratio at all times
-Complete tasks such as laundry, sanitizing toys and other daycare equipment
-Other duties as required
The infant teacher hours are 7am-10am Monday- Friday for a total of 15 hours, however, there are opportunities to help cover shifts outside of that time frame for extra hours.
The ideal candidate will have a high level of flexibility and willingness to work extra hours within business hours.
The hourly rate range is between $16.50-17.50 per hour, based on education and experience. Part time employees are eligible for 2 weeks, 2 days of PTO in addition to 10 paid holidays.
Payment for 12 clock hour trainings each year is provided. No other fringe benefits are provided.
Physical requirements include an ability to lift and carry young children, the ability to get down on the floor and up again quickly and easily and the general ability to perform the duties listed above. Strong verbal and written communication skills required. Additionally, employees must be able to stay off of cell phone during their shift.
Punctuality and reliability are of the utmost importance. Excessive lateness or absences will result in termination. Mistreatment of the children of any sort (physical, verbal, emotional or otherwise) will result in immediate termination.
Personal cell phone use while supervising children will not be tolerated. Excessive gossip or general negativity that leads to a toxic work culture will not be tolerated.

To be hired you will need to be at least 18 years old with a high school diploma, pass a background screening, physical and TB test.
