What are the responsibilities and job description for the Part-Time Family Outreach Coordinator position at Creative Minds International Public Charter School?
CMI is hiring for a part-time, temporary Family Outreach Coordinator to support enrollment growth for the upcoming school year. The estimated duration of employment is June 1, 2026 through September 30, 2026 however the work may be extended or terminated at any point. The primary purpose of this role is to help CMI fill open seats and build a robust pipeline of prospective families across Wards 4 and 5. The Family Outreach Coordinator will work closely with the Director of Family Engagement, Senior Manager of Enrollment & Operations, and school leadership to execute the recruitment plan and meet enrollment goals.
This is a community-facing role. Family Outreach Coordinators are CMI's voice and presence in the neighborhood, and are expected to engage families with warmth, professionalism, and a genuine belief in what CMI offers. The ability to build authentic relationships and represent CMI's mission in community spaces is essential.
Essential Functions
- Canvass within recruitment areas specified by the CMI recruitment plan, including community events, recreation centers, parks, daycares, and high-traffic neighborhood locations
- Engage prospective families in conversations about CMI's academic programs, school culture, and PK3-8 model
- Distribute materials and collect parent interest and contact information at events and pop-up tables
- Support event planning and execution for family information sessions and school readiness workshops
- Provide on-the-spot application support to interested families
- Track outreach activity and prospective family contacts to ensure consistent follow-up
- Support phone and text outreach to new and prospective families
- Attend dismissal and community events near CMI
- Provide regular feedback to inform ongoing refinement of the recruitment plan
Minimum Qualifications
- A genuine belief that all students can succeed and a commitment to expanding access to high-quality education in DC
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to connect with diverse families and communities
- Comfortable working independently in the community and following through on tasks without close supervision
- Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities across a busy recruitment season
- Proficiency in basic computer skills and ability to learn new tools quickly
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion in sensitive conversations
- Bilingual in Spanish or Amharic is a strong plus but not required
- Familiarity with Northeast DC communities, schools, and family networks is a significant advantage
- High tolerance for ambiguity and changing priorities during a fast-moving recruitment season
Work Location
This is a community-based role. The Family Outreach Coordinator will work from various community locations across Wards 4 and 5 including recreation centers, parks, daycares, and community events, with occasional time on the CMI campus.
Compensation
This is a part-time, hourly position ranging between 10 and 15 hours per week. Hourly compensation is commensurate with experience. No benefits are offered or provided.
