Job Summary
The Production Planner is responsible for developing, maintaining, and communicating production plans that support customer delivery requirements, optimize available capacity, and ensure materials and resources are available when needed. This role works closely with Production, Purchasing, Sales, Account Management, and other departments to coordinate daily and weekly production priorities while identifying potential scheduling risks before they impact customer commitments.
The Production Planner will utilize ECI M1 and other planning tools to monitor production schedules, material requirements, work center capacity, and schedule attainment. The ideal candidate is organized, analytical, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment where priorities can change quickly.
Primary Responsibilities
- Production Planning: Develop, maintain, and communicate daily and weekly production plans based on customer requirements, available capacity, material availability, and production priorities.
- Production Scheduling: Schedule and sequence work orders across appropriate work centers to maximize throughput while supporting on-time delivery commitments.
- Capacity Monitoring: Monitor work center capacity and identify potential bottlenecks, constraints, or scheduling conflicts that could impact production or customer delivery.
- ERP/MRP Management: Utilize ECI M1 to review production requirements, work orders, inventory levels, and material needs. Assist with MRP processes and identify material requirements that may impact production schedules.
- Material Coordination: Partner with Purchasing and Materials to ensure required raw materials, components, and outside services are available to support upcoming production.
- Schedule Risk Management: Identify potential delays or constraints and communicate risks proactively to Production, Purchasing, Sales, and Account Management.
- Daily Production Coordination: Work closely with Production leadership to adjust schedules based on machine availability, staffing, material constraints, quality issues, downtime, and changing customer priorities.
- Schedule Attainment: Monitor daily and weekly schedule attainment by comparing scheduled work against completed work and identifying reasons for missed schedules.
- Production Communication: Maintain clear and timely communication regarding schedule changes, priorities, shortages, and potential delivery concerns.
- Job Prioritization: Assist Production leadership in establishing priorities when multiple jobs compete for the same equipment, resources, or production capacity.
- Data & Reporting: Maintain accurate planning information and provide reporting related to production schedules, capacity, schedule attainment, and other relevant planning metrics.
Secondary Responsibilities
- Apply strong problem-solving and analytical skills to identify opportunities to improve production flow, scheduling accuracy, and communication.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to production planning, scheduling, inventory, and operational efficiency.
- Identify recurring production constraints and recommend practical solutions to improve predictability and throughput.
- Assist with the development and implementation of improved planning processes, systems, and tools.
- Support cross-functional initiatives designed to improve customer service, on-time delivery, and overall operational performance

- Strong sense of urgency and accountability for meeting production and customer commitments.
Education / Experience
- 2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment required.
- 1–2 years of experience working directly in a production or manufacturing operations environment preferred.
- Previous experience in production planning, scheduling, materials coordination, manufacturing operations, or a related role preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Business, Operations, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Project Management, or a related field preferred.
- Experience with an ERP/MRP system is preferred; experience with ECI M1 is a strong advantage.
- Experience with data-driven tools such as Power BI, advanced Excel, or Artificial Intelligence is a plus.
Pay: $26.00 - $30.00 per hour
