What are the responsibilities and job description for the Direct Support Professional (DSP) position at Creative Living Support Services?
Provide direct support and assistance for participants, with or without the caregiver present, in or out of the participant's residence, to achieve and/or maintain the outcomes of increased independence, productivity, enhanced family functioning, and inclusion in the community, as outlined in his/her Service Plan.
DSP Responsibilities
- Ensure participant is in an environment that nurtures participant needs, self-expression, and goals.
- Assist participants with taking care of their daily living needs.
- Deliver individualized assistance for participants as indicated in the NJISP.
- Encourage and support participant decision-making, productivity, and participation in a range of community activities.
- Promoting independence in daily activities, such as work, learning, and leisure.
- Facilitate participants' inclusion in the community's experiences and activities.
- Maintaining knowledge of participant requirements.
- Complying with agency policies and procedures.
- Maintaining documentation in compliance with agency procedures.
DSP Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years or older
- Complete Drug tests as applicable under Stephen Komninos' Law
- Be First Aid, and CPR certified.
- Possess a valid driver's license, abstract (not to exceed 5 points), and auto insurance if required driving.
- Complete all mandated training
- Complete Drug tests as applicable under Stephen Komninos' Law
- Complete Central Registry checks
- Complete State/Federal Criminal Background checks
- Have at least a high school diploma
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $17.00 - $21.00 per hour
Education:
- High school or equivalent (Preferred)
Experience:
- working with developmental disabilities: 1 year (Required)
License/Certification:
- First Aid Certification and CPR (Preferred)
Shift availability:
- Day Shift (Required)
Ability to Relocate:
- East Orange, NJ: Relocate before starting work (Required)
Willingness to travel:
- 75% (Preferred)
