Maintenance Manager

Job Description

The Maintenance Manager is responsible for leading, coordinating, and continuously improving all maintenance activities to ensure safe, reliable, and cost‑effective operation of manufacturing equipment and facility systems at Creative Liquid Coatings, Inc. This role drives proactive maintenance practices, supervises maintenance personnel, and ensures compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards while supporting production goals, program launches, and operational excellence initiatives.

Roles and Responsibilities

Maintenance Leadership & Operations

• Direct and coordinate all maintenance activities to support production, quality, safety, and profitability objectives.
• Lead, supervise, and develop hourly and salaried maintenance personnel.
• Establish departmental goals and key performance indicators (KPIs) aligned with plant and company objectives.
• Assign, prioritize, and schedule maintenance work to ensure equipment uptime across all shifts.
• Inspect completed maintenance work to ensure compliance with specifications and standards.
• Manage maintenance-related assets, facilities, and inventories.

Reliability & Maintenance Programs

• Develop, implement, and continuously improve Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), Preventive Maintenance (PM), and Predictive Maintenance (PdM) programs.
• Ensure maintenance work orders are completed accurately and on time.
• Identify, plan, and execute planned shutdowns and major maintenance events.
• Support reliability, downtime‑reduction, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Budget & Resource Management

• Develop and manage the maintenance department budget, including labor, materials, purchase orders, and invoice approvals.
• Identify cost‑saving opportunities and efficiency improvements.
• Requisition tools, equipment, spare parts, and supplies as required.

Engineering, Production & Vendor Coordination

• Support production readiness for new program launches and ongoing operations.
• Provide hands‑on technical support and collaborate with technicians to diagnose and resolve equipment issues.
• Coordinate maintenance activities with outside contractors, inspectors, and service providers.
• Partner with Engineering and Operations on equipment upgrades, modifications, and capital projects.

Safety, Compliance & Training

• Ensure compliance with OSHA and all federal, state, and local safety and environmental regulations.
• Develop, enforce, and maintain maintenance safety standards and training programs.
• Identify training and skill‑development needs; provide coaching and technical mentoring.
• Conduct performance evaluations and manage timekeeping for direct reports.
• Support ISO 14001, IATF 16949, and other quality system requirements.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support plant leadership and company objectives.

Skill and Education Requirements

• Minimum of five (5) years of maintenance leadership or supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong working knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and mechanical systems.
• Experience with industrial equipment including automation, robotics, conveyors, paint systems, PLC controls, HVAC, compressors, and utility systems.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, safety rules, and operating instructions.
• Strong problem‑solving, analytical, and decision‑making skills.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with CMMS systems, reporting tools, word processing, and email.
• Proven ability to lead teams and manage priorities in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
• Flexible schedule availability, including nights, weekends, and shutdowns as required.

Work Environment

• Work is performed primarily in manufacturing and facility environments.
• Frequent exposure to noise levels that may exceed OSHA limits.
• Occasional exposure to fumes, airborne particles, chemicals, wet or humid conditions, and extreme temperatures.
• Physical demands include standing, walking, climbing, bending, kneeling, crouching, and crawling.
• Must be able to push or pull up to 250 pounds and lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
• Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Typical schedule includes 8–10 hours per day with additional hours as operational needs dictate.
• Travel by car to other facilities may be required.
