Description/Role | Project Background: The Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is the largest department within the County government and provides a variety of health-based and community services at more than 20 locations throughout Maryland. Within the scope of DHHS are more than 120 programs spread across five primary service areas: - Aging and Disability Services
- Behavioral Health and Crisis Services
- Children, Youth, and Family Services,
- Public Health Services,
- Services to Prevent and End Homelessness
Scope of Work: In support of the DHHS infrastructure, this position’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to: - Evaluation, design, documentation, installation, implementation, tests, and performing problem isolation and resolution;
- Uses monitoring, performance analysis, network management, software and hardware equipment to troubleshoot and isolate problems, gauge performance and activity, and resolve issues related to application infrastructure;
- Devises solutions to operational problems within the capacity and operational limitations of installed equipment;
- May develop and execute contingency plans for host systems, storage, and network related software/hardware failures including isolated and major outages;
- Updates system and process documentation, produces user guides, diagrams, TRAs, and SOPs as needed.
- Provides internal consulting, technical guidance, information and support to application developers; system operations; desktop support; management; and departmental clients.
In addition, Contractor will provide County technical staff expertise and support for ongoing Windows and Linux server maintenance, configuration, and documentation efforts for the Department of Health and Human Services Infrastructure Team. Contractor will work side-by-side with County staff to facilitate knowledge sharing/transfer. |
Skills/Experience Required | REQUIREMENTS: - Demonstrated experience in architecting, designing and deploying virtualized infrastructures using VMware AND senior level experience in at least one of the following (in preferred order):
- Enterprise Server Systems - Cisco UCS preferred
- Enterprise Storage Systems – NetApp preferred
- Enterprise Load Balancing Systems – F5 preferred
- Senior level OS administration experience including Windows Server and RHEL
- Demonstrated experience developing technical specifications, project plans and system documentation; focus on designing Fault Tolerant and High Availability systems
- Demonstrated experience in maintaining and supporting large scale and complex AD and
- ADFS environments, and Active Directory GPOs in decentralized government environments
- Advanced knowledge of IP networking, VPN’s, switching, and routing
- Thorough knowledge of desktop management and related technologies/processes such as storage, networking, management, monitoring, security, performance, capacity, and availability
- Experience producing business relevant presentations and technical oriented writing
- Strong experience implementing best practices in an end user environment
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to adapt to various business needs
