COMPENSATION:
- $27 per Hour, based on experience

- 1099 Position

UpBeat Music & Arts is a 501(c)(3) non-profit founded in 2013 to help youth reach their fullest potential through music and the arts.  UpBeat believes economics should not be a barrier to music education, and the organization and its donors provide many scholarships to underserved youth.  Their teachers are a passionate group who make a difference in the lives of each and every student - they are not only outstanding musicians, but relate to young people and their unique needs.  UpBeat currently employs 18 dedicated instructors and is excited to welcome more members to their team!

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The new instructors will primarily focus on individual lessons in piano and/or voice.  If candidates are interested in teaching in multiple areas, a wider variety of students may be provided as available.

Overall duties include:

- teach 30- and 45-minute individual piano lessons

- teach 30-minute individual voice lessons

- teach in group settings when needed

- accompany students on piano (for voice lessons)

- teach theory, technique, performance, and composition

- utilize exercises and games to motivate students

- conduct ongoing assessments of achievements

- help coordinate and support program activities

- contribute towards activities, curriculum design, student/parent feedback, etc.

The instructor will work with children ages 5 to young adults for piano and ages 7 to young adults for voice.  All lessons are in-person at the UpBeat studio.

Please note that the studio is hiring multiple instructors and candidates may be considered for piano-only, voice-only, or both, depending on their backgrounds.

REQUIREMENTS:

- 1 year teaching experience

- 4 years music education and/or training

- college-level music education preferred; not required

- proficiency in piano and/or voice performance

- ability to accompany on piano (for voice lessons)

- strong understanding of music theory

- a passion for working with youth
