Daycare Assistant

Creative Connection Preschool
Oswego, OR Full Time
POSTED ON 8/16/2023 CLOSED ON 9/14/2023

What are the responsibilities and job description for the Daycare Assistant position at Creative Connection Preschool?

We are a small business located in Lake Oswego looking for a teacher to help us continue to develop our daycare program alongside our provider. Our schools prioritize holistic care that supports the emotional, mental, physical, and social growth of each student, and we're looking for a passionate teacher for our 0 to 2s!

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a safe and clean environment for children
  • Engage awake children in play or monitor napping children
  • Assist in feeding, lifting, and changing children
  • Log children's activities and schedules in the Procare App
  • Communicate with coworkers and parents about child status
  • Assist provider in meeting licensing standards and follow state regulations
  • Become a valued member of our community and have fun with the kids!

Required Experience and Training

  • Oregon required trainings (free): Recognizing and Reporting Abuse and Neglect, Prevention is Better than Treatment, Safe Sleep for Oregon's Infants, Introduction to Child Care Health and Safety, Foundations for Learning
  • Food Handler's Card (free)
  • Enrollment in Central Background Registry (Conditional or Approved CBR Necessary for application)
  • First Aid/CPR for Adults and Infants
  • High school graduate or higher
  • Preferred one year experience in child care. Certified Family infant care requires 30 to 50 clock hours of training to work with infants. We can help you find online or in-person classes to meet this training requirement and have you be paid for it!

Schedule and Pay
We are open 7:30am to 5:00pm Monday through Friday. Currently, we are looking for someone to work 9-5 shifts. We provide midday paid lunches. Starting pay is 21/hr (salaried approximately 43k per year), and we provide at least yearly raises to staff, generally in the spring.

Skills
Play: We believe that everyone has different strengths when it comes to engaging children, especially around play times, and we want you to utilize your strengths as an educator. For example, if you are passionate about art, music, some form of exercise or movement, or even just really good at make believe, then these are all skills that will transfer well to our environment! Playing well alongside children and meeting them where they are at are highly desired skills.

Communication: Strong interpersonal skills are a must--you will be working as an equal partner with our provider, although she has final say and responsibility over the environment. We work closely with parents to ensure the safety and wellbeing of their children, and consider our educators, parents, and children to be a part of a diverse community.

Flexibility: Early childhood education requires a great deal of patience and care, especially because kids' situations can change on a dime. There may be update texts after work hours regarding children or educator scheduling, and willingness to switch shifts with other educators (such as working 8-4 rather than 9 to 5) is greatly appreciated, but not required. Our goal as a business is to enable our educators to lead healthy, balanced lives so they can provide excellent care to our students!
