Director of Life Enrichment (Activities Director)

Do you have a passion for enriching the lives of older adults? We are seeking an energetic, compassionate, and creative Director of Life Enrichment to lead our resident activities program. As our Director of Life Enrichment, you will develop, coordinate, and oversee a comprehensive activities program designed to meet each resident's physical, emotional, cognitive, social, and spiritual needs while ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.
What You'll Do
- Plan, organize, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive life enrichment program
- Develop engaging daily, weekly, and monthly activity calendars
- Coordinate:
- Group activities
- Arts and crafts
- Music and entertainment
- Exercise and wellness programs
- Games and educational activities
- One-on-one resident visits
- Community outings
- Holiday celebrations and special events
- Spiritual opportunities
- Encourage resident participation and foster meaningful relationships
- Complete resident activity assessments and develop individualized care plan goals
- Document participation, progress notes, MDS information, and required records
- Facilitate Resident Council meetings
- Recruit, train, and coordinate volunteers
- Collaborate with nursing, therapy, social services, dietary, and other departments
- Maintain an inviting, organized, and welcoming activity environment
- Continuously introduce new programs and evaluate their effectiveness

Qualifications
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Two years of experience in social services, recreation, or activities within the past five years
- At least one year of full-time experience in a resident activities program in a healthcare setting
- Ability to obtain and maintain an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card
- Ability to obtain Activity Director/Activity Professional Certification within one year of hire
- Current CPR certification or ability to obtain upon hire
- Food Handler Certification or ability to obtain upon hire
Preferred
- Completion of a state-approved Activity Director training program
- Certified Activity Professional, Therapeutic Recreation Specialist, Occupational Therapist, or Occupational Therapy Assistant
- Experience working in skilled nursing, rehabilitation, memory care, or assisted living

Physical Requirements
This position is active and requires frequent walking, standing, bending, reaching, lifting, and assisting residents throughout the day. Occasional weekends and holidays are required for special events. This position is designated as safety-sensitive under Arizona law.
