Development Manager, Creative Art Works

Creative Art Works ("CAW") is a 36-year-old creative youth development nonprofit
that improves the lives of thousands of young people each year through the power of
art. Our programs include in-school and out-of-school-time classes, community art-
making events, and our well-known public art youth employment program. Working in
the underserved neighborhoods of NYC, in public schools, community and cultural
centers, juvenile detention centers, parks and libraries, CAW provides dynamic arts
experiences for youth who otherwise lack access. Our programs build confidence,
unlock a love of learning, and teach valuable technical, developmental, life and job
skills, all while creating profound connections between our young constituents, their art,
and our communities. Students are never charged for participation.

Job Description
CAW seeks a Development Manager who will be based in the organization’s office in
midtown. This newly created salaried position will be full-time. This person will be an
integral member of a lean, passionate team. Some hybrid/flexible work possible.

The Development Manager will report to the Deputy Director, providing direct support
for all fundraising activities, including donor relations and cultivation, grant research and
reporting, and special events.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Grant and proposal writing including collaborating with program staff and
managing compliance and reporting requirements
  • Management and development of our donor management database (Neon)
  • Donor outreach and cultivation
  • Development and production of donor reports
  • Participating in the planning and execution of our annual benefit and other
fundraising events
  • Coordinating campaigns with the Marketing & Communications Manager and the
Deputy Director.
  • Other duties as may be assigned by the Deputy Director and Executive Director


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required, related master’s degree a plus.
  • 5 years of relevant experience in development; experience in the arts, youth
development, and/or nonprofit administration a plus
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills and grammar
  • Excellent organizational skills, research skills, and attention to detail
  • Expert proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word and Power Point.
  • Demonstrated experience and facility with budget creation
  • Good working knowledge of CRM/donor management systems.
  • Familiarity with collaborative work management applications a plus
  • Familiarity with contracting, documentation, compliance and reporting procedures

  • Ability to work well both independently and collaboratively
  • New York City life experience strongly preferred
  • Ability to balance competing priorities with creativity and grace
  • Flexibility in a fast-paced environment

The position offers competitive compensation commensurate with experience ($70,000-
$75,000), including generous benefits, 401K plan, paid time off, tax-advantaged savings
plans for flexible spending and transit benefits.
