We’re seeking an experienced, highly detail-oriented, organized, and collaborative
Bookkeeper who is passionate about supporting a mission-driven organization. This

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position reports directly to the Controller and is responsible for day-to-day accounting tasks that ensure accurate financial records.
- Maintain and reconcile all general ledger accounts using QuickBooks Online (QBO), ensuring accuracy and compliance with nonprofit accounting standards.
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions in Bill.com, including vendor setup, invoice processing, and electronic payments.
- Record and categorize income, grants, contributions, and program expenses in accordance with fund accounting principles.
- Reconcile bank, credit card, and balance sheet accounts monthly.
- Support the Controller in processing bi-weekly payroll using ADP Workforce Now.
- Support the Controller in preparing monthly journal entries (depreciation, allocations, accruals, etc.).
- Assist the Controller with the preparation of financial statements and grant reports for management, the board, and funders.
- Support the Controller in preparing for the annual audit and Form 990 preparation by maintaining organized documentation.
- Prepare and file annual 1099s for independent contractors.
- Support the Controller in monitoring restricted funds and tracking grants and donor contributions.
- Collaborate with the Controller and the Chief Operating Officer to ensure sound financial management practices.
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold internal controls and ethical accounting standards.
- Assist the Controller and Chief Operating Officer with various human resources administrative duties as needed, which may include onboarding, benefit enrollment, and compliance support.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
Required
- Minimum 3 years of bookkeeping experience, preferably in a nonprofit environment.
- Proficiency with QuickBooks Online (QBO).
- Familiarity with nonprofit fund accounting and grant tracking.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and internal control principles.
- Excellent attention to detail, organization, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
- Must be able to pass all required background checks.
Preferred
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Direct experience with ADP Workforce Now and Bill.com is highly desirable.
- Experience with other software and accounting tools (e.g., Excel, Google Sheets).
